Disenchanted! Snow White & her Princess Posse invade NYC!

Warped, witty, sexy, and sassy take on the Disney Princesses that would have Walt Disney rolling over in his grave!

I’m always up for some culture, along with some laughs, and off-Broadway sometimes offers the best of both worlds. Was more than happy to attend a performance of Disenchanted! as part of a Yelp night event. When I read about the show and found out the storyline was a take on the Disney princesses I knew it would be hilarious – and it was! I’ll admit that I am a Disney fan and have seen all the movies, been to the parks, bought all of Dark Lord Mickey’s merchandise, etc, so this was a no-brainer to be a part of.

The stage setup is simple with just a few props and backgrounds which works perfectly, and compliments the actresses just right for each of their numbers. The St Clemens theater is simple in itself and you get the impression you’re sitting in a school study hall with comfortable stadium seating offering a great view of the stage. Good acoustics and AC too which was surprisingly welcomed. Easy to get to off of Times Square and it’s located in a church. Yup, a church. No frills setup for sure, but very effective and intimate. Worked extremely well when they got the audience to participate in a sing along competition. Yes, that happened. If you are sitting as a couple in the front row center area you might become a focal point in all this. Be prepared to sing! Continue reading Disenchanted! From the Madness of NYC comes 300 Blog Posts.

So, how did this actually happen? I’m far from being a writer, and would not even attempt to place that label on myself. At times I find it hard to put together proper sentence structure. Heck, I can barely speak English. More like a babbling idiot that somehow scribbles his thoughts onto paper. There is no possible way that this barely brain functioning individual could have written 300 posts already. Yup, 300 blog posts. I don’t even believe it. Maybe it’s a testament to my dogged persistence which thinks I can actually write. What’s even more amazing is that there are people out there who really read my sometimes indecipherable ramblings. Boy, are you all gluttons for punishment! You could be reading a novel by a professional writer, or a well known news website, or even a newspaper. Why would you read my blog when Judge Judy is on, or the bat shit crazy “Housewives of Whatever City” can be your guilty pleasure? Now, don’t get me wrong as I’m very appreciative to anyone who follows this blog and my weekly demented meanderings. I just hope that one day you all don’t see through my charade! Ten Things New Yorkers Should Never Do!

131825

There are so many lists out there dictating to us what New Yorkers should do and should not do. Seems as if everyone has an opinion on how we should live our lives here in the center of the universe. Yeah, I said it. The center. Yup, we have a high opinion of ourselves at times but overall we just play along with the inside joke about it. New Yorkers are supposed to be all gruff and rude, but that’s really not true. Some of us might be at times, but overall we are a good natured melting pot of people. Working hard, living life, and trying to have some fun along the way. Just keep moving and get out of our way! We are a fast paced society here, and there are some commom rules that we kind of adhere to. Some of these might be a bit nutty but it helps us get through our days. I think you need to be a New Yorker to understand fully but it’s good to know for when visiting our great city. When in Rome do as the Romans do, or some such crap like that. Welcome to New York – now get out!

I present to you my personal list of Ten Things New Yorkers Should Never Do! Continue reading Ten Things New Yorkers Should Never Do!

So, did they start playing the Super Bowl yet?

wrf vwrfew

I’ll admit that I did not watch the Super Bowl. Nope, not one minute, not one play, not even a peek. You must all be asking how is that possible? Blasphemy! This is an American holiday now. How can you not watch? It’s the big game! The epicenter of all sports tv programming! The monster truck show climax of the NFL season! The big cheese! The big sombrero! For the whole enchilada! Ole’!

Hmmm…..I am suddenly craving some Mexican for lunch today. Tacos maybe? A burrito? I hope the bathroom at work will be empty later. Gonna be ugly. Wait….what was I talking about? Oh yeah, that football game that was played Sunday night. Get back on track Phil and stop getting veered off course by thoughts of delicious food. As I was saying it is a fact that I did not watch any of the Super Bowl this past Sunday, and honestly by seeing the final score and highlights (or lowlights if you’re a Broncos fan) I did not miss anything at all! This was an embarrassing abomination of a game. One of my friends said it best – “They should label the Broncos as the new Keystone Cops of the Super Bowl and play the old Benny Hill theme music over the highlights.” I do have to offer congrats to the Seattle Seahawks being crowned Super Bowl Champions as they totally destroyed Denver and left no doubt on that playing field. Yet, other than if you’re a Seahawks fan what joy is there of watching a boring non-competitive game of 43-8? After seeing the post-game updates on ESPN this game was literally over after the botched opening snap by Denver within the first 12 seconds!
