The things I did to that pie. So shameful…..
Yes, it was my cheat day off from training. I wanted pie dammit! With ice cream. So go sue me!
We walked into this small little pie shop and immediately became engulfed with the sweet aroma of butter and sugar baked goods. Breathe in deeply as you can inhale 200 calories just from the wonderful smell alone. Get on line to order and look over longingly at those devouring their slices of Heaven by windowside. Glance at the menu and wonder what to order. Can I get one of each? Such is the life here at Petee’s Pie Company in NYC.
The pies here are homemade right from scratch. I think the ice cream is too but supplied to them. All I know is that I wanted it all inside me. Stat! Continue reading The unspeakable things I have done for pie in NYC
Rock Out, or Shut the Hell Up and GTFO!!! \m/
People, its Rock and Roll! For all those whining and complaining about Terminal 5 please just admit to yourself that you should really just be sitting at home and watching reruns of NCIS or Dancing With The Stars in the comfort of your air-conditioned home and cozy couch. Then be in bed by midnight. Yawn.
I have seen many negative reviews and pessimistic complaints about this NYC music venue. I laugh at you all. Where to start?
I was here a few nights ago for the Slash w/Myles Kennedy show. It was effing amazing! Slash was in a zone all night and once again proved he is a Guitar God. Myles’ voice is great, and he is a super frontman and perfect complement to play off of Slash’s fret work. The whole band was tight and played with crunching precision. They had the packed house rocking out and screaming for more over the two hours they performed. Hits from Guns and Roses, Slash solo, Velvet Revolver, etc, and even some Jimi Hendrix thrown in. Blown away at how good this show was. Wow – just Wow! Continue reading Rocking out with Slash at Terminal 5 in NYC!
Wow – the reviews of this place vary wildly from what I have read on different sites. From satisfied patrons to outright hatred. All I can say is that when my merry group of diners and myself ate here recently we had a terrific time with good service and decent food. That’s all you can ask for when eating at a chain resto like Buca di Beppo in Bally’s casino.
Don’t go in thinking it will be a Michelin star rated joint, and just know that it is what it is – a chain Italian spot. Lower expectations a bit and enjoy a meal in a lighthearted amusing atmosphere. Sucks for those that can’t deal with that and had a bad experience at this location. All I can say is that we all had a great time and walked out stuffed and mainly satisfied on our last jaunt to Atlantic City, NJ.
As a bunch of us were here recently during the Yelp AC Winter Getaway weekend event I decided to reserve a table for twelve since it would also be my BDay weekend, and a good time to relax with a group of friends over a fun dinner and wine. It was during the AC restaurant week promotion, so we ate at RW prices which were a nifty deal at $33.15 a person. More than enough on the menu to choose from, and the portions were actually quite large and filling. Decent enough wine list with different price points too. The Gilroy. Just the name of this fine cocktail establishment harkens back to the days of the roaring 20’s and pre-prohibition era libations. Not only does this new craft cocktail emporium on the Upper East Side/Yorkville serve a quality drink, but it also offers up some mighty fine gastropub fare! As the reinvention of this part of Manhattan in NYC is taking place lately new businesses such as The Gilroy are helping to usher in a new era.
After a few visits here so far I can righfully proclaim that I am a big fan of The Gilroy. It’s hard not to enjoy yourself here when you are surrounded by a wonderful staff making sure your visit is to your liking with terrific food and friendly service. The first evening we wandered in and took a seat in the cozy back room dining area. The decor features a warm and candlelit atmosphere, seating in the back room, hanging Edison style lighting, a stylish wooden communal table in the middle up front, fun background music, and a nifty looking copper top bar by the entrance. Well thought out to fit the space they had to work with and put together in a classy but inviting way. It’s definitely a step above the normal fratty pubs and sports bars that line Second Avenue where it resides. A perfect spot to being a date, or converse with a few friends late at night in the dim light over cocktails and a bite to eat.
