The Sugary Sweet Lure is Evil at Spot Dessert Bar in NYC!

This place is the work of the Devil I say!

The desserts here cast a spell on your soul.

They make you want to come back and try all of them against your wishes. The temptation is such, and the lure of Spot Dessert Bar in NYC is all too real.

Located on St Marks Place it’s below ground in the Devil’s lair. Usually, it seems so crowded and busy that you have to wait in line. The night we arrived to worship the ice cream delicacies at this altar of dessert treachery we had to wait for a bit until a table opened up. It was certainly worth the wait as the cold concoctions here are both ridiculously creative and tasty. They are also represented by eclectic fun names. Prices seemed ok for these kinds of tasty cold treats. This surely ain’t no Mr Softee cone off the truck! Continue reading The Sugary Sweet Lure is Evil at Spot Dessert Bar in NYC!

Enjoying a Slice of NYC Heaven at Bluestone Lane

The Avocado Smash!

Then as the skies opened, and the rain subsided, the Lord said “let there be light”!

Such was the weather recently when I was nearing the end of a rainy 5 mile run in Central Park. As I finished my run on the east side of the park and headed for cover I jogged over to Bluestone Lane, which is housed in a church off East 90th and Central Park on the Upper East Side of NYC.

As the sun came back out I plopped down into a sidewalk table. It’s really a nice spot to grab an iced coffee and bite to eat. Continue reading Enjoying a Slice of NYC Heaven at Bluestone Lane

Cupcakes and Wine at Sweet Revenge in NYC

Cupcakes and wine? Sure, deal me in! After all, living well is Sweet Revenge, and since this was the name of the place in NYC it’s kind of appropriate.

We were on a cheat day when it came to eating, and after dinner close by decided to check this place out as we were still in time for cupcake and wine happy hour. Yes, that really is a thing here. Oh boy!

It was absolutely empty when we arrived. Service was pleasant but not overly attentive. Just right as we wanted to relax and chat. Small location with some seating and a small bar area. Continue reading Cupcakes and Wine at Sweet Revenge in NYC

Osteria Cotta – a Little Italian Hideaway in NYC

Wandering around the Upper West Side of NYC recently I was looking for a spot to meet a friend for a few happy hour cocktails. I happened to discover Osteria Cotta nestled in spot off 85th and Columbus. I peeked in and viewed a really nice little joint. Very rustic feel. Lots of wood, brick, and iron lamps hanging from the ceiling. Had to go inside to check out the bar area and look around.

Two stories with dining seating on both levels, main bar on lower floor, and some outside seating. Open kitchen to watch pizzas being made in the brick ovens. Love this kind of ambiance.

Happy hour? Solid! Sit at the bar from 5-7pm on Mon-Wed and enjoy a really good happy hour on drinks and menu items. 3-7pm happy hour Thurs and Fri. Can’t go wrong here. Continue reading Osteria Cotta – a Little Italian Hideaway in NYC
