Craft beer, pinball, and ping pong at Treadwell Park NYC!

o (1)
Pretzels as big as your head!

Great new bar where the mediocre Neely’s BBQ used to be. It’s always a joy when my beer swilling cohorts alert me to a new craft beer discovery right in my own hood on the Upper East Side of NYC. As they were already there and invited me to join them I was unaware that a new business had opened up in this space, and as I sauntered up the street after exiting the subway a few blocks away I saw the sign on the outside for Treadwell Park.

Whoa! Terrific beer list, cocktails, ambiance, food, ping pong tables, pinball machines, popcorn machine, and flat screens all around. Holy cow – a working fireplace too! I could not believe my eyes. Can I move in? I won’t take up much space. I’ll sleep on the floor under the ping pong table.

Very nice woodsy urban cabin decor. Plenty of seating along the bar, high tops with stools, and heavy picnic benches that seats couples or groups.

Varied menu with a little something on it for everyone. Brats, sandwiches, finger foods, salads, and some main course entrees. I found the prices fair for the area, and for the type of delish craft beers curated on their list, but may seem a bit pricey for some. Still, I’m happy to shell out a few more shekels to hang out in a chill place like this and enjoy my time here. Continue reading Craft beer, pinball, and ping pong at Treadwell Park NYC!

Fleet Week, Letterman, NYC News, and $30 hot dogs.

image

Sometimes you read and come across some strange things during the course of the week.

I just read a news article about a hot dog vendor here in NYC that is selling those dirty water dogs along with hot pretzels for $30. Yes – thirty freaking dollars! Are you kidding me? Now, I can see paying maybe $2 for one of those belly bombers but this insane. Obviously, he is feasting upon visitors from overseas that know no better, and even though I’m not a huge fan of most annoying tourists, along with the bridge and tunnel suburbanite crowd that piles into the city on the weekends, even I would put a stop to this jerk if I saw him trying to rip off someone like this. Heck, even I have a bit of ethics in me believe it or not. Maybe sell it for $10…….

Another thing I read today was the story of how a girl’s sweet 16 party was bombarded by flying poop out of the sky! The family and friends were having a get together for her big birthday when feces just came out of the heavens and rained down upon them. They are assuming it was from a plane that had passed and somehow unloaded it’s crapper. Now, my mom and older relatives would always say it’s good luck when a bird poops on you, but I wonder if that would also hold true if big ‘ol Billy Bob dumped his bowels on your head from way up high? Georgetown Cupcake NYC – just simply amazing!

l

Walking by a few nights ago I was dragged inside this cupcake shop against my will. Like a caricature of a cavewoman with a club dragging her caveman in by the hair behind her. I’m pretty sure this is how my lady friend felt as she would not be denied a last minute excursion into Georgetown Cupcake in NYC. I had no choice but it was a great call!

( Yeah, I know, I’m a dude doing cupcake reviews. Sue me. These things are orgasmic! )

Last minute is describing it properly as they were closing in five minutes and we still were able to sneak in with the door being locked behind us. This place is quite large as far as cupcake shops go. Most I have been to are usually small storefronts. They even have some seating in this place. It is super bright and looks brand new. Lots of pink and black decor with some colorful art on the walls. Long counter with hundreds of boxes on the shelves, cooking tools, and even a pink bedazzled cake mixer. So “chick flick” it screams “Sex and the City”.  I can picture that scene with Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal happening over cupcakes here rather than at Katz’s Deli in “When Harry Met Sally”. I’ll have what she’s having!         Continue reading Georgetown Cupcake NYC – just simply amazing!

Just thinking about pretzels in NYC…..

l (1)I’m just sitting here on the couch tonight watching tv. Kicking back in my sweats and a beer at my side. It’s at times like these watching sitcom reruns that I start to crave some sort of munchies. My inner fattie craves pizza, Fritos, or a whole bag of peanuts, but what I really want dammit is a big-ass hot soft chewy pretzel! Yeah right, now that my ass has molded into this cushion on the couch and I’m all comfortable there is no way I’m getting up to go out and find a hot pretzel. I’m in for the night. It did get me thinking though about some really good pretzels I had lately.

Yup, my mind goes off on weird tangents when it comes to thinking about snacks. Here’s a short list of a few favorite pretzels and related pretzel things I have munched on in NYC.
