Hey, where have you been?

Damn, it’s been a while since I have cracked open the computer to scribble down my thoughts and meanderings of life. Seems as good a time as any considering the elements outside have projectile vomited everything in Mother Nature’s stomach at us!

Let’s get real. It’s a weather disaster of a night here in the Northeast. Snow and icy wet conditions have made the evening commute a living Hell for many.  3 + hours trapped in cars crawling along at what is normally a 45 minute trek. Subways and mass transit facing sporadic massive delays. Accidents everywhere. Trees down. It’s really not a great night to go outside and do anything. I bet even Mayor Dumblasio is whining about not being able to go to his gym all the way in Brooklyn tomorrow because he actually has to run the city during a snowstorm. Hey, great job Mr Mayor at doing the crappiest job possible and being totally unprepared for this storm. Of course, he blames the weather forecast. Thumbs up! Osteria Cotta – a Little Italian Hideaway in NYC

Wandering around the Upper West Side of NYC recently I was looking for a spot to meet a friend for a few happy hour cocktails. I happened to discover Osteria Cotta nestled in spot off 85th and Columbus. I peeked in and viewed a really nice little joint. Very rustic feel. Lots of wood, brick, and iron lamps hanging from the ceiling. Had to go inside to check out the bar area and look around.

Two stories with dining seating on both levels, main bar on lower floor, and some outside seating. Open kitchen to watch pizzas being made in the brick ovens. Love this kind of ambiance.

Happy hour? Solid! Sit at the bar from 5-7pm on Mon-Wed and enjoy a really good happy hour on drinks and menu items. 3-7pm happy hour Thurs and Fri. Can’t go wrong here. Continue reading Osteria Cotta – a Little Italian Hideaway in NYC

Olio e Piu – pizza love while dining al fresco in NYC

o
Made the mistake of sharing this pizza. Wanted it all!

Sitting outside and eating pizza on a beautiful Spring Day in NYC. One of the joys of life here in the big city.

We have all been there. You walk by a spot seemingly hundreds of times and never notice it. If you do, then you never bother to give it a try. One late afternoon the weather was too good to pass by again, and a table was beckoning to us to take a seat at Olio e Piu.

While wandering around the West Village we stopped by this resto for an early dinner. I can’t even count the amount of times I had walked by this place, but so glad the aroma of pizza and Italian food lured us in. As it was a perfectly sunny day out and not too hot we sat on the outside patio seating which is kind of picturesque with all the flowers and plants adorning the space. A friendly waiter handed us menus and told us about some specials. We were having none of that! Just hand over the pizza and back away slowly. Back away! Heading into 2016 at Ludicrous Speed! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all! It’s been one a heck of a ride in 2015 hasn’t it?

Well, here we are fresh into the New Year and with 2015 in the rear view mirror I am looking forward to see what awaits me in the next twelve months. This past year has been one of many ups and down in my life. The passing of loved ones, completing another mudder race for charity, many food and drinking adventures with friends, travel abroad, work stress along with work success, attending concerts of my fav bands while seeing some play their last shows, Broadway events, friends getting married, along with many laughs, tears, trials and tribulations along the way. As always, my rock along the way keeping me honest, and on the straight and narrow has been my gal Stacey. Sometimes I wonder why she still sticks with me as I must be a lot to handle, but for some reason she puts up with my stubbornness and shenanigans. Guess she loves me and my crazy ways. Here’s to more fun in 2016!

Eat more salads. Yeah, I know it’s pretty basic and kind of cliché when Jan 1 comes around to start a diet but I really need to cut back on the meat and crappy food eating. Gotta get those greens in even if it means sacrificing my love of greasy crispy delicious bacon. Sigh.

Jump out of a plane, climb a volcano, surf in shark infested waters, complete the NYC Marathon, run with the bulls, kayak over a waterfall, have an extreme enema, find Waldo. Screw it. I’ll just have some deep-fried Oreos and a nap.

Stop fretting over the little things. As long as I remember that we are all surrounded by assholes it will be ok. Continue reading Heading into 2016 at Ludicrous Speed! Happy New Year!
