So, I went to meet my gal at Penn Station the other night after she went out to spend the day with relatives and the first thing she says when she sees me?
“Someone took a huge dump on the train platform! Not just one, but three giant piles of turds!” I laughed, and suggested that maybe it was someone’s dog that pooped there. “Hell no!” she stated. “That was human dukies. No way was that some Pomeranian poop! She was obviously disgusted. Perhaps a bit mortified.
Of course, being the jaded New Yorker that I am I wanted to go down and take pictures of this monster pile of human excrement, but the look she gave me with the side-eye suggested otherwise if I knew what was good for me. Heck, I have enough food porn pics on my cell phone, so why not just add this to my collection? Salad pic. Soup pic. Salmon pic. Dessert pic. Giant turd pic. Fits right in! Wandering around the Upper West Side of NYC recently I was looking for a spot to meet a friend for a few happy hour cocktails. I happened to discover Osteria Cotta nestled in spot off 85th and Columbus. I peeked in and viewed a really nice little joint. Very rustic feel. Lots of wood, brick, and iron lamps hanging from the ceiling. Had to go inside to check out the bar area and look around.
Two stories with dining seating on both levels, main bar on lower floor, and some outside seating. Open kitchen to watch pizzas being made in the brick ovens. Love this kind of ambiance.
Happy hour? Solid! Sit at the bar from 5-7pm on Mon-Wed and enjoy a really good happy hour on drinks and menu items. 3-7pm happy hour Thurs and Fri. Can’t go wrong here. Continue reading Osteria Cotta – a Little Italian Hideaway in NYC
Wow, this place brought back amazing food memories of their old sister location that used to be up by me on 88th and 2nd ave in NYC. We were craving some of their wonderfully tasty plates after discussing some of the good eats we had there before the spot by us closed. Well, sometimes wishes do come through when gluttony is involved!
We were recently down by the Union Square area and my girl remembered that Saigon Market was close by, and being that it was dinner time we decided to forgo the normal Seamless route or cooking at home to head over here and feast! Continue reading Making My Taste Buds Sing at Saigon Market NYC
