I never had wanted to shove a tube of meat deep inside me as much as I had when I encountered Crif!
Boy, that sounds soooo dirty, doesn’t it? The honest truth is that I loved swallowing every inch of this meat goodness down my throat.
Wait! What the hell did I just say? This isn’t a porn shoot!
Eating a Crif Dog does feel like erotic perfection though. Crispy bacon sexiness wrapped around an all beef hot dog, and engulfed with creamy toppings, and fitted into a soft bun sleeve. Alluring and crave-inducing they are like a fetish you secretly harbor. Armed with a recent Groupon deal of $5 for $10 worth of food I came into this den of hot dog debauchery ready to explore my inner meat craving. One of the best meal experiences I had this past year. We have lived in this UES neighborhood for many years now, and this was the first time we had ever eaten at UVA, and now I want to kick myself for not trying it sooner!
As you walk in you are tranported to a rustic style Italian villa. You feel as if you are eating in an Italian family’s dining room. Totally warm, cozy and candle lit. The diners eating here on this evening ranged from couples on a date, to groups of friends, to families, and it was quite crowded. Thank goodness we had a reservation as we had heard it was hard to get a table without one, and that was the truth! The front has a small bar and seating area, and is a nice spot to enjoy a glass of wine and relax with a plate of cheese and fruit. The main dining room is followed by a second dining area on an enclosed back patio that is nicely decorated. Terrific ambiance in both rooms with a lot of seating. The place was packed, and I was to shortly find out for good measure as to why. Continue reading UVA – Delicious pillows of truffled gnocchi Heaven in NYC→
There are certain things that go into my mindset when trying to dictate if somewhere or something I am reviewing is to be worthy of my accolades. I might not have the most discerning palate, or extensive knowledge of food and wine, but I like what I like. I’m a regular guy and pretty easy to please. I enjoy tasty food and fun places to drink and dine at along with friends that have similar likes. I’m a big fan of Czech and German beer, along with the comfort food that goes along with it. One of the terrific and historic establishments in the NYC area is the Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden. Not too long ago a group of us ventured out to this famous beer garden in Astoria, Queens, for a day of debauchery and gut busting beer fun. What transpired during our time there made for some fun memories, and has me hankering for a return trip soon! Continue reading PROST! An historic beer garden in Astoria, NYC.→
To paraphrase the immortal words of Ren and Stimpy – “Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!”
That is the euphoric feeling I had when biting into these char broiled patties of meat goodness. We finally had a chance to drop by this East Harlem outpost of Joy Burger Bar and it really is up in no man’s land – kind of where Yorkville ends and Spanish Harlem meets. I applaud the owners for taking a chance up in this spot, and it seems as if they are being rewarded. The evening we feasted there were brisk take out and deliveries going on, and the dining area had burger lovers constantly filling the tables.
