Sushi burritos? Heck yeah! The Salmon Samba Burrito is really good.
I decided to check this joint out recently while shopping in the area and needed some sort of healthy lunch. Yet, I wanted something different and unusual from the norm. I never had a sushi burrito before so this seemed like a cool choice. There are a multitude of places to eat at in NYC, from around the world, so it’s no surprise to see an unusual foodie experience such as Sushirrito pop up on the scene.
Ordering was pretty easy as the menu is not all that large but the choices are good, yet there is little leeway to customize your food option. My one other gripe is that they need to expand their cold drink choices. At least get some regular and diet sodas here in case people don’t want to choose water or some sort of prepackaged lemonade or iced tea. Continue reading Sushi Burritos in NYC? Sushirrito blew my mind!
I’m a busy man lately. Been running all around Manhattan performing errands, getting some dreaded Christmas shopping done, dropping off a few coats for charity, and also squeezing in some much-needed fun time with my friends. NYC is a magical place this time of year, and lends itself to a bit of overeating and overindulgence.
Yes, diets and waistlines take a beating during the holiday season.
That being said it’s always nice to have a spot like Westville to drop in for some clean and healthy eats to place your mind at ease, and make you feel a little better about yourself after the previous night’s egg nog consumption and over-eating at the company party. There are those days when I just don’t feel like eating all healthy and nutritious. We have all had those days. When you just can’t eat another salad or baked fish plate. You’d almost rather eat a bowl of dirt with ice cream and chocolate syrup on it. I had one of those days recently where I threw the calorie counts out the window, and decided to go have a fun meal nearby at the newly opened Duke’s on the UES of NYC.
Walking in we were greeted by the friendly hostess and were offered any seat we wanted that were available. As it was early on a weekday the place was mostly empty. Took a seat at a booth and were quickly taken care of by a terrific waitress. She made some perfect recommendations for food and drinks and answered any question we had about the menu and specials.
My observations –
Cool 70’s/80’s pop and rock playing.
Fun roadhouse decor.
Flat screens everywhere. Must be a good football weekend spot.
Plenty of cocktail concoctions. Boozy Gummy Bears!
Happy hour half prices on select libations and appetizers.
Jello shots and syringes! Continue reading Boozy Gummy Bears and Comfort Food at Duke’s NYC!
Drinking in the park with a riverside view is just the best way to have a beer!
In my never-ending quest to brutalize my body with ongoing 5K races this year my most recent endeavor led me to Riverside Park on the UWS of NYC. Check-in for the race was at 6pm at Ellington in The Park. It was one of those last-minute decisions on a hot, humid, and rainy day that I am glad I went forward with. Even if at one point I questioned my sanity. How did I not even know this place was here after living so long in the city?
How can you not love this kind of spot? It’s kind of a hidden gem way uptown on the west side and buried in Riverside Park off the 103rd street entrance. Walk down the stairs and over to the right and you will see it overlooking the Hudson River.
There is a small bar up top with outside seating offering great views. Walk the stairs down and there is another larger bar below level with both outdoor and some covered seating. Also offers great views of the river, athletic areas, and the normal backed up traffic on the Riverside Drive – LOL! You can also find the bathrooms down here too.
