Blows crappy Pinkberry out of the water! I make no bones that I hate Pinkberry and the wannabe trendoids that gather at the Upper East Side NYC location to eat this sour tasting dreck. Seems like it’s a combination of the baby carriage crowd and skinny girls coming in after the gym. I’ve tried it a few times just to make sure and I still prefer 16 Handles over this stuff. So many more flavors and toppings to experiment with. They win my taste buds hands down. Plus, to me, it’s a more fun spot to dive into a cold treat!

Walking by at night you can’t miss 16 Handles – bright and spacious with lots of seating.  It almost invites you to come inside. Cool green, white, and faux wood interior. Kind of very modern and space age looking as if the Jetsons would eat here. Even a big flat screen with sports on it. Upper East Side does the JBird in NYC!

lGreat hidden spot on the UES / Yorkville for tiki like cocktails in a lounge setting. More and more of these terrific spots are opening up around here and it’s another nice addition to the burgeoning bar scene that seems to be happening in the area. Why schlep all the way downtown and back when locally there are so many choice bars around here now? Some nights you just want to stay close to home. You a runner? You jog? Not me!

Mo-Farah-MemeI’m not a runner. Never have been, and never will be. I always see and hear about those who get up at the crack of dawn to get in their morning jog. I see them running through the city streets dodging traffic, running around those on the way to work, and trying to avoid crashing into baby carriages along the way. It can be a driving rain storm, a foot of snow in a blizzard, or even single digit frigid temperatures out and these hearty beings persevere so as to not miss one run. Personally, I think many of them are nuts! You won’t catch me out in that weather doing anything other than hitting a bar or picking up some Chinese food to take home to the couch. I’ll happily sit in a cafe with my cappuccino while relaxing in a comfy chair and watch you all huff and puff by.
