Heading into 2016 at Ludicrous Speed! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all! It’s been one a heck of a ride in 2015 hasn’t it?

Well, here we are fresh into the New Year and with 2015 in the rear view mirror I am looking forward to see what awaits me in the next twelve months. This past year has been one of many ups and down in my life. The passing of loved ones, completing another mudder race for charity, many food and drinking adventures with friends, travel abroad, work stress along with work success, attending concerts of my fav bands while seeing some play their last shows, Broadway events, friends getting married, along with many laughs, tears, trials and tribulations along the way. As always, my rock along the way keeping me honest, and on the straight and narrow has been my gal Stacey. Sometimes I wonder why she still sticks with me as I must be a lot to handle, but for some reason she puts up with my stubbornness and shenanigans. Guess she loves me and my crazy ways. Here’s to more fun in 2016!

Eat more salads. Yeah, I know it’s pretty basic and kind of cliché when Jan 1 comes around to start a diet but I really need to cut back on the meat and crappy food eating. Gotta get those greens in even if it means sacrificing my love of greasy crispy delicious bacon. Sigh.

Jump out of a plane, climb a volcano, surf in shark infested waters, complete the NYC Marathon, run with the bulls, kayak over a waterfall, have an extreme enema, find Waldo. Screw it. I’ll just have some deep-fried Oreos and a nap.

Stop fretting over the little things. As long as I remember that we are all surrounded by assholes it will be ok. Continue reading Heading into 2016 at Ludicrous Speed! Happy New Year!

My New Year’s Resolution suggestions for NYC!

Happy New year 2014 funny Wallpapers Images pics Lol meme

It’s that time of year again. We all know someone, and perhaps even ourselves, who make those foolish New Year’s resolutions that never seem to really pan out. A gallant and well meaning attempt usually crashes and burns into ashes and the smell of despair. I for one do not make any resolutions. If I make up my mind to do something it doesn’t matter what time of year it is as I just do it. If I decide that I want to eat less bacon, or drink less beer, then that will happen. Wait, what? Bwahahahahaha! That ain’t happening! Anyhoo, I thought it would be a good idea to assign resolutions to others here in the NYC area as some of these people really need to make some major changes. They can either take my advice or remain as the annoying dregs of society we all deem them to be.

New Year’s Resolutions, Frozen, Squirrels & Hangovers in NYC!

10409387_10152872711523486_9007701862672997175_nLook, I’ll be the first one to admit that it’s hard to pass up a night out on the town here in NYC. Put a booze filled cocktail in front of me along with a great steak dinner and Phil is a happy boy! I just can’t give up going out with my friends, or meeting up with them at some hot spot for a fun time. I know I have some of the “Peter Pan complex” in me. I just can’t grow up. Maybe it’s because I refuse to. I see too many people that once they hit their 30’s and 40’s they kind of give up on the things they loved along the years. Not saying that everyone needs to be hard partiers their whole life, but I kind of see the alternative as a bit boring too. I know major life events change people – relationships, marriage, children, etc – but do they have to give up on everything they did before that? The fun stuff?

I’m sitting here in my fav weekend cafe where you’ll normally find me with my computer, and on my third cup of coffee trying to shake the hangover cobwebs out of my head. Still thinking about the terrific happy hour last night in an underground lair where I drank way too much, then followed by a jaunt across town in the rain to a steakhouse to end the night with more cocktails and engaging conversation over a medium rare mouth watering filet mignon. Somehow stumbled home around 1:30 and fell into the bed. Did I drink too much last night? Maybe? Spent too much cash? That steak and sazerac cocktail was sure worth it. Do I regret not just going home, hitting the gym, then calling it a night? Hell no! Life is short and time to play is a must. Everyone deserves a cheat day now and then. Mine was last night. Back in the gym today and be good. Maybe at my age I should slow down a bit. Nah! Even though recovery takes a little longer nowadays I refuse to give in to age. You know that saying about “aging gracefully”? I call bullshit on that! There is a big difference of being older and being old. Being old conjures up images of retiring to Florida, watching the grass grow, and hitting up the seniors specials for dinner. Not me, no way. Heck, I know people around me that are already old and they are a lot younger than I am. I’ll fight it and party on until I’m dragged away kicking and screaming. Still love going out, attending heavy metal concerts, lifting weights, travelling, dancing, eating well, and enjoying everything NYC has to offer. Why stop because you get a little older?

Here come the New Years gym noobs in NYC!

gym-confusion

It’s already starting. The influx of New Years resolution noobs are starting to trickle into the gyms across the nation. Well, at least they are here in my gym in NYC. Even though it was a dreary Sunday afternoon and not many people were in there today working out there were more than enough newbies to keep me entertained. It just amazes me what I see, and after all these years going to the gym I am still shocked at some of the stupidity I observe. I know that after the holiday abuse we put our bodies through with all the bad eating and drinking that many look to the long cold doldrum days of winter to try and get back in shape for the Spring and Summer. The problem is many of these gym novices have no clue what they are doing, and get in the regular gym members’ way. That, and they also endanger themselves! Stay away from me noob!
