There is nothing like a warm Spring day in NYC. Sunny skies. Warm breeze. Birds chirping. The smell of bacon in the air. Bacon you say? Yes, BACON! I’ll gladly throw down a blanket and kick back with copious amounts of crispy sweet bacon and unlimited drinks. I just so happens there is a new event being planning to take over Brooklyn on May 16th and 17th for all those pork loving aficionados out there. The Great Big Bacon Picnic is an indoor/outdoor gourmet bacon festival with over 100 chefs, brew masters, and mixologists showering you with unlimited bacon, extraordinary cocktails, and local craft beers!
I think I just had a bacon and booze foodgasm! This is like a party in my mouth, and you’re all invited! Wait, what? Whatever, just make sure to keep this one on your Spring hit list if in town. If you love, or even like bacon, and enjoy a cold beer or quenching libation on a warm afternoon surrounded by like-minded peeps this is a must go to event!
I get Bitter just knowing that such an eloquent cocktail emporium is but just a short trek from wherever I am in the city, yet I must be discreet and not let my one true love discover my Amor y Amargo on the side. I meet up with her in the cozy and intimate confines of her abode down in the East Village of NYC.
She will be truly hurt if she finds out about the Sharpie Mustache that my Bitter mistress has drawn on my lips many times. If she knows what we have done in our stolen private moments she will not try to Dismember The Pain that will be inflicted on my body. Our love will be a Casualty that is gone but not Forgotten.
Alas, I am just a Smut Peddler that can’t forgive who I really am. It is a Bitter pill to swallow as can be expected with a Burning Bush.
The best speakeasy in Queens! Came here with a bunch of friends not too long ago for the first time and realized it’s the kind of cozy, dark, and mellow place that can suck you in for hours and not have a clue as to what time it is before your stumble out. It’s not often that I venture out to Long Island City for a cocktail, but would happily go on another adventure to this little hideaway for another libation.
Love the classic hidden speakeasy vibe Dutch Kills has going on here. It’s in a desolate strip along Jackson Ave that can get kinda sketchy late at night. At least the subway stop is only a block away for quick access. You wouldn’t know it’s here at all except for a small nondescript white neon sign that says “bar” above the door. It’s in a small building surrounded by a few other businesses. Once you open the brown metal door you enter into a terrific hidden den of mixology.Continue reading These libations are killing me softly at Dutch Kills in Queens, NY→
All I can say from my experience here the other night is that if Raines Law Room in NYC were a porn star she would be Jenna Jameson – one of the hottest and highest paid performers in the biz. Extremely sexy, alluring, and intoxicating. If you can get past the doorman after buzzing in you are greeted by a speakeasy decor of plush elegance and cool chicness.
I assume we were lucky to get right in on a Saturday evening around 11:30 at night with not so much as a reservation or even dressed properly. Plus, we had just come from a Belgian beer festival and were pretty much in the bag by then. We were told we could not get a seat in the lounge area but were welcome to hang out in the “kitchen” area. Walking past the couples and groups resting comfortably on the vintage couches enjoying thier cocktails I was more then looking forward to sampling a few of these classic concoctions myself.
