I just devoured the juicy awesomeness that is the Manly Burger. I am all that is Man. And then some!
It’s kind of surreal that just a few weeks ago I dined at Umami Burger here in NYC and enjoyed every bite of this fatty, meaty, cheesy, caloriffic-laden burgery goodness. I have been sitting on this review since then and over that time I had an epiphany of sorts. I actually have decided to stop eating meat. What??? Yeah, I know, right? Seafood and healthier nutrient dense options are on the agenda now. I don’t know if I would really class myself as a Pescatarian just yet as I still love a good steak. Yet, lately I just started to get sick of eating fatty greasy meat products and yearned for a change. Especially since I am now ramping up my workouts to get in shape for summer. Let’s just see how this grand experiment all works out for me over the next three or four months.
In the meantime, let us chat about this manliness that I wrapped my lips around, shall we? Continue reading Experience the manliness that is Umami Burger NYC
Do you like fancy?
Do you like sexy?
Do you like opulence?
Do you like seriously quality made drinks with a lot of booze in them?
Then head on over to The Back Room at One57. It’s located inside the sleek new Park Hyatt Hotel in midtown Manhattan NYC. The lobby host greets with a smile and directs you to take the elevator up to the 3rd floor restaurant. As the doors part you walk into a room of high ceilings and luxury surroundings. Think marble, glass, couches, and refined ambiance. The kind of spot where the men are smartly dressed in suit and tie, and the ladies in designer dress wear.
We sat at the bar on this night and had a wonderful experience. The staff here is highly professional, and offers exemplary service. Great bartenders that will partake in polite conversation and attend to your needs. If you chat them up and get to know them a bit they are actually friendly guys. Plus, they make a mean cocktail. Always a plus! Continue reading Check into the Back Room at One57 for some NYC opulence.
One thing I do love about staying over my gal’s parents house for a visit now and then is they usually take us to J&R’s Steakhouse out in Calverton, Long Island. It’s one of pop’s favorite places, and is one of those spots that is made for one thing and one thing only –
Holy meatapocalypse! The amount of food you get here is ridiculous for the price. I guess living in NYC we are so used to overpaying for everything that J&R’s seems to be a terrific bargain. Plus, the food is actually pretty good. Just good old fashioned “stick to your ribs” comfort style food served up in large portions at a reasonable price point. Daily specials on their chalkboard for lunch and dinner are a good deal too and always worthy of a try.
On the day we came here during Christmas week I wanted to attempt the 76 ounce steak challenge, but it was not being offered anymore. What??? Something about not enough people doing it, so it was removed. Why dear God, WHY???
What kind of world are we living in when real Manly Men don’t want to take on the challenge of engorging on a huge slab of meat?!!! Oh, the shame! Do it for valor. Do it for love of God and country! Do it for the glory! Do it for AMURRICA!!!! Continue reading Eating like a Manly Man at J&R’s Steakhouse on Long Island!
Ok, here we go with another Valentine’s Day (massacre) again. I have yet to buy a card or set up flowers to be delivered. Yes, I am one of those dudes that wait all until the last possible minute to actually hit a store and get something for my gal. I mean, what’s the big deal with women when it comes to this overhyped commercialized Hallmark holiday? Bleech. I’m already seeing all kinds of posts on Facebook referring to wonderful plans all these couples have set up for the big day of forced romance. Gag me. Then come Feb 14th all the women will be posting pics of flowers and gifts that their guys sent them. Oh c’mon already. Isn’t a bucket of KFC extra crispy and furry handcuffs enough to make a gal swoon? It’s the gift that keeps on giving! Nothing says romance like greasy fried chicken and sex toys. Are you all feeling me out there? Don’t even get me started on the flowers part. It’s the one time of year that a bouquet of roses cost as much as diamonds. He went to Jared? Nope! He went to Subway with the other Jared and used some of that cash on a $5 foot long. He then hit the local bodega and scored a dozen roses for $10 on the way home. Yessir! I go all out for my main squeeze. Nothing but the best. It’s how I roll! Continue reading A Manly Man’s Guide to Valentine’s Day Romance in NYC.
