Sushi Burritos in NYC? Sushirrito blew my mind!

Sushi burritos? Heck yeah! The Salmon Samba Burrito is really good.

I decided to check this joint out recently while shopping in the area and needed some sort of healthy lunch. Yet, I wanted something different and unusual from the norm. I never had a sushi burrito before so this seemed like a cool choice. There are a multitude of places to eat at in NYC, from around the world, so it’s no surprise to see an unusual foodie experience such as Sushirrito pop up on the scene.

Ordering was pretty easy as the menu is not all that large but the choices are good, yet there is little leeway to customize your food option. My one other gripe is that they need to expand their cold drink choices. At least get some regular and diet sodas here in case people don’t want to choose water or some sort of prepackaged lemonade or iced tea. Continue reading Sushi Burritos in NYC? Munching a tasty box close to home! Akami Sushi in NYC.

Salmon Teriyaki Bento Box lunch special!

It’s a steamy swamp-assy Sunday afternoon in NYC and I was starving. Did not want to walk far in this heat wave. Looked around for a tasty new box in my hood that I could bite into and not become a soaked mess.

All I had to do was walk around the block and this hot box was right in my face! Boom!

Akami Sushi located on 1st Avenue up in Yorkville is one of those places I never ventured into, even though it is right next to one of my regular bodegas. Bento Box lunch special for $9.50 until 4pm! Great value. Nothing like wrapping my lips around a tasty box close to home!

I read over the menu outside this sushi joint on 1st Ave advertising some lunch specials that run until late in the afternoon and realized they offer many choices. I’m always into getting my lips around a tasty new box so I slipped inside. Heck, now I kick myself for not eating out this box much sooner. Continue reading Munching a tasty box close to home! Once in a while the need to escape NYC beckons. Don’t get me wrong as I love my city but there is a lot more to see and do outside of the five boroughs. Plenty of towns up north just a train ride away of only an hour or two ride.

After spending a day trip up in Cold Spring NY wandering around, shopping, snacking, exploring, and sightseeing we checked this place out for a mid-afternoon lunch. It was called Hudson Hil’s.

Great service.
Delicious food.
Quality portions.
Bright country-style decor.
Breakfast served all day.

Boom. Continue reading Day Tripping to Hudson Hil’s in Cold Spring NY.

What’s not to love about this quaint charming little village just minutes away from NYC?

If looking for a quick day trip Cold Spring NY is about and hour and twenty-minute ride on the Metro North out of Grand Central station. More than enough running times on the schedule to head out early and get home later in the evening. Makes for a perfect easy getaway to explore this wonderful little town.

Quick walk from the train station so no cars are needed. Information desk is right there at the start of Main Street to pick up a map, and public bathrooms too.

Idyllic setting right on the water. Wonderful views all around and terrific when the leaves are changing. Great location for taking some beautiful pics along the Hudson River.

Walking Main Street is like a trip to a past time. Local boutiques, specialty shops along the way, a few eateries, and the area is very clean and safe. Feels like it’s a small town set back in the 1950’s. Seems like many of the businesses knew the locals who dropped in. Continue reading We’re Day Tripping North of NYC to Cold Spring NY!
