It’s like the idiot cousin I need to take care of once in a while that gets me into all kinds of trouble. But I still love him. Even if it means jail time and restraining orders.
Hey, if we had a choice most would always pick Vegas over Atlantic City. Vegas is glitzy cheesy wacked out fun. AC is like it’s crazy family member you hide in the basement that reminds us of Chucky in the horror movies. Yet, Vegas for those living in the NYC area is thousands of miles away. AC is but a few hours by car or bus. You do the math. It’s much easier to do a quick weekend gambling party getaway and be back at work by Monday morning than flying out to Vegas and dealing with the hassle of travel. I am all about discovering kitschy places to eat and drink at as I love them! The kitsch factor is off the hook here and we loved eating at Gilligan’s Clam Bar & Grill! It was one of those days that we had a car and decided to just take any random exit to explore a bit and hopefully find somewhere decent to grab a meal before heading home. It’s as if King Kamehameha prepared this feast just for us during Restaurant Week in NYC! Probably one of the best, if not the most plentiful, options to take advantage of during lunchtime. Since I had a summer Friday off we were able to snag a seating on the last day of RW mid day and it was terrific. For only $24.07 a person we were amazed at the amount of food we received, on top of the excellent service. We literally rolled out of here – but not before sitting at the bar and getting ripped on some high octane rum tiki drinks after our meal!
Now, I love kitschy type places, and The Hurricane Club is no exception yet they do it in a more classy style. The ambiance and decor is spot on beautiful, trendy and chic, with a ton of seating, chandeliers, carved wood worked ceilings, palm plants, dim lighting, and a tiki bar anchoring the main floor. We sat in a semi-private room off to the side that made us feel as if we were in a tiki hut. The waiters and staff here are very attentive, professional, and within minutes had come over to place our orders and set us up with drinks. The menu here for RW had some great offerings and everything we ate was so good we wish we had done this place a few times for lunch! Continue reading Rock you like a Hurricane!
