Unlimited booze and food brunch on New Years Day! Happy New Year to me! We loves our unlimited boozy brunches here in NYC. Any reason to get liquored up in the afternoon is a good thing!
I set up this boozy brunch on New Years Day for a group of us since most stayed in on NYE. Heck, going out that night is amateur hour anyway and overpriced at best.
Had a 1:30 reservation and were seated around 2:00. No biggie, as I knew it would be crowded here. Unlimited brunch is for two hours and we were told they would not kick us out at 4:00 when it ended. Hey, for $39 it’s basically a steal. Unlimited cocktails of all types and family style plates of tapas on the whole menu. Yes, the WHOLE menu. There is a lot to choose from here. I really loved the spicy bloody mary and the mango mimosa. Those went down way too easy! Plus, they certainly did not skimp on the booze! I also tried the lychee mimosa and the tequila spiked agua fresca. A few traditional margaritas also made it into my mouth. Wowza! I drank a lot of booze in those two hours. Hope you all are taking it slow and enjoying a day off from work. If your company is open today and they are forcing you to slave away for “the man” then I must say I feel sorry for you. Those companies are un-American! Close the damn biz for a day and let everyone enjoy a holiday of debauchery and reckless abandon. Or, just so many can actually get some sleep and be a lazy sloth for the day. It’s all good either way. This is Amurrica! Slap some hotdogs and burgers on the grill. Devour those carcinogens! Hit the beach in wildly inappropriate bathing suits that show off those jelly rolls. Skin cancer be damned! Drink until you puke. After holiday hangovers are special! Go see Guardians of the Galaxy again. After all, DC comics can’t seem to come out with a movie lately and Marvel is kicking their ass! Bring your kids to the mall to let them run wild like obnoxious brats and annoy the crap out of everyone else while you shop in blissful ignorance. Well, actually, we hate these parents. What I’m trying to say is go out and enjoy the day off if you can, as Labor Day is meant to be a day of relaxation from the daily grind of the rat race we live in. Happy Independence Day everyone! The 4th of July has so much meaning and relevance to so many of us. As a country we are free to make our own gluttonous decisions of what to eat and drink. What kind of job to do. Where we live. What we wear. I still can’t believe it only been 18 short years since Will Smith fought back the alien invasion and saved the human race from extinction! We have so much to be thankful for that the Fresh Prince was there to deliver us from utter annihilation. I’m still in awe that we were able to rebuild the White House so quickly. Normally, our idiot politicians on Capitol Hill can’t decide on anything other than voting on raises for themselves and what extended vacations they are taking. Good thing we have Freedom fighters like Captain Steven Hillar on hand! Continue reading I can’t hear you over the sound of my Freedom this July 4th!→
Summer weekends are here and it’s got me thinking about BBQ’s, hot dogs, and cold beer. There is still nothing like a good beef hot dog grilled to perfection when you get that snap from biting into it. Gray’s Papaya is almost synonymous with New York, and their “Recession Special” of a couple of tasty dogs and a sugary papaya drink is a NYC institution. Gotta love hot dogs that snap! Every once in a while while walking the city streets you just get a hankering for something to eat. This is the quintessential quick bite meal. Just a small standing room window counter to hunker down and munch out on your beefy hot dog feast. Open all night and pretty much every day of the year. I have stumbled into this spot and a few of their other locations after a night (or afternoon) of drinking to fill my belly and help soak up the booze. It’s a little hole in the wall hot dog spot that gets non-stop biz from passers bay. I think it’s that intoxicating aroma of hot dog that wafts into your nose as you walk by that lures you in to this divey piece of hot dog Heaven.Continue reading Gray’s Papaya – a Little Bite of Hot Dog Heaven in NYC.→
