Delicious guacamole, and the salmon special on a bed of plantains was just perfect. I scarfed it all down while enjoying a damn fine Mojito. My taste buds were singing. My belly was happy. My gluttonous desires were completely satisfied.
My gal totally gushed over the chicken mole. That mole sauce was righteous! Oh, and they don’t skimp on the portions. You go home full after a meal here with a food baby in tow.
The fear of the unknown, or just the love of food?
We had just finished dinner the other night after work at one of our favorite pizza joints. It’s a local’s spot that serves up terrific oven baked pizzas, assorted pastas, and Italian plates. One of those spots where you can order up normal human sized plates, or dive head-in and be a total gluttonous man-beastslob freak and order a “family style” portion. Of course, we went with the “food baby coma” size pasta dish along with a medium pizza.
They make you want to come back and try all of them against your wishes. The temptation is such, and the lure of Spot Dessert Bar in NYC is all too real.
Located on St Marks Place it’s below ground in the Devil’s lair. Usually, it seems so crowded and busy that you have to wait in line. The night we arrived to worship the ice cream delicacies at this altar of dessert treachery we had to wait for a bit until a table opened up. It was certainly worth the wait as the cold concoctions here are both ridiculously creative and tasty. They are also represented by eclectic fun names. Then as the skies opened, and the rain subsided, the Lord said “let there be light”!
Such was the weather recently when I was nearing the end of a rainy 5 mile run in Central Park. As I finished my run on the east side of the park and headed for cover I jogged over to Bluestone Lane, which is housed in a church off East 90th and Central Park on the Upper East Side of NYC.
