One of the greatest things about living in NYC is the outrageous abundance of mouth watering places to eat across all five boroughs. One of the hottest right now for the foodie scene has to be the borough of my birth – Brooklyn USA! Easy to get to from Manhattan by subway. So many things to see and do. So many places to drink and eat!
How do I even begin to describe probably some of the greatest mac & cheese I have ever eaten? I mean, this stuff was devastating and blew my mind. I dream about it. I have cold sweats like an addict that can’t get his fix as it’s been too long now since my last hit of gooey goodness. Just inject that fatty cheesiness right into my veins!
If there is one thing that DuMont does exceptionally well, it definitely is their mac & cheese. Thick soft pasta shells covered by layers of mouth watering different cheeses, pieces of thick bacon mixed in, and a crust that is crisp and browned on the outside with real breadcrumbs. Wow – that crust is the stuff of mac & cheese legend, and it’s the kind of thing that wars are fought over. I still stare at the picture I took of it. They give you so much on the plate it begs you to share, but I was having none of that! Yes, I am disturbed, I know, but I just can’t help myself. DuMont has ruined me for mac & cheese at any other place I go the rest of my life. The after effects were a food coma like non other. Continue reading Mac & Cheesy Mac & Cheese in Brooklyn!→
Well, it’s April 1st and time to start really taking a cold hard look at my eating habits. Time to reevaluate what I am putting in my body and my fitness goals. With summer just around the corner I want to rock the six-pack, and not hide the bod from view. I know what to do, how to eat, how to train. I used to be a personal trainer dammit! Yet, it is so hard as temptation is everywhere in NYC!
How on God’s green Earth am I ever supposed to eat normal living in this city of excess? Really, I mean, WTF!!!! WHAT – THE – EFFFFF!!!!!
Due to my eating exploits around New York City I have an abundance of foodie memories, gastronomic comas, and not to mention a few extra inches around my waist. From simple eats, to comforting meals, to all out disgusting pig-outs.
Therefore, these are the experiences that will be henceforth locked away in a new page on this blog – The Gluttony Files…..
Island Burgers & Shakes
If you ever get the hankering to eat a cow, this is the place to go!
After a recent Broadway event a group of friends and I were quite hungry and needed something to fill our belly’s. What better then huge slabs of meat with all types of toppings for a sloppy delicious gut busting meal? Island Burgers & Shakes satisfied our carnivorous cravings – and then some! There are many spots in NYC that can be described as a guilty pleasure. I have made it a mission to experience as many as I can. My taste buds love it, while my waist line, liver, and arteries hate me. Being a foodie one can describe NYC as living in gastronomical orgasmic bliss. This is my taste adventure at Clinton St. Baking Company not too long ago.
The pancake and sugar cured bacon orgy is beyond gluttonous belief!
It makes life worth living. It makes rainbows in the sky. It’s better than puppies and kittens. I want to bath in it. I want to make love to it. I actually shed a tear when I finished eating it.
So much has been written and reviewed about Clinton St. Baking Company, and much of the praise is highly deserved, along with the lambasting of the dreaded long lines and eternal wait to finally get a seat in this place. I thought I would be smart and go here on Wednesday late afternoon on my vacation during Christmas week. Alas, the line gods were kind to us and we only had to wait about 30 minutes before scoring a table around 3PM. The waiter handed us a menu, but I laughed and scoffed at this feeble attempt to persuade me to veer off my mission of the one thing that is a must-order when visiting this establishment for the first time –
