Engorging the Holidays!

Well, we seem to have made it through another Christmas. My body already feels as it has gone through an “extreme makeover” with all the stomach engorging food and hi-caloric drinking I have partaken in. Sure, I did it on my own accord with reckless abandon, and enjoyed every bite and gulp. Now, we have a week between major holidays, and New Years Eve will bring another evening of engorging. My pants are already getting tighter, and I dread what will happen after the holidays. I don’t make impossible to keep resolutions, but I am going to behave myself this week!

I ain’t no chef. Easy guy cooking.

 

I am kind of a lucky man. I am surrounded by terrific cooks and friends that can whip up delicious tasting meals and delicacies with a snap of their fingers. It’s both a blessing and a curse I tell you. On one hand, you just know to expect when we have a pot luck or get together somewhere. The food is amazing and quite tasty. Drool worthy at times. On the other hand, it makes me feel like the kind of person that can barely make a bowl of Cheerios. Monique is a ridiculous cook and can pretty much open up her own bistro if she wanted. Kristy is a pastry and dessert maven. Since she is diabetic she also bakes up some great low-sugar treats. Chef Ben is, well, he’s a trained chef and can make anything taste awesome. It’s a ridiculously talented group. We never have to worry about going hungry around these food magicians.

Diet, Holidays, Turkey, and Despair

Every year we are faced with the inevitable. The bombardment of Christmas advertising and commercials on TV. The mind numbing holiday music playing in almost every deli and store. Family visiting from out of nowhere. Awkward office parties. The leftovers we stuff ourselves with for days after Thanksgiving. The tons of candy, cookies, and cake that our coworkers thoughtfully dump on us all in the office. Yeah, thanks a lot for that last one gang.

Choose small biz in time of need

 

In the foodie world there are so many choices to dine at with multiple restaurants everywhere serving up all types of fare. With the devastation that Hurricane Sandy has caused in the New York area perhaps this is a good a time as any to dine out for a few days, but instead of hitting up the bigger joints why not try out some of the smaller mom and pop establishments and support local biz?
