New Taste of the UWS. Three days of gastronomica in NYC!

new

After three days of devourment on the Upper West Side of NYC it might be time to get my butt back in the gym and run non-stop on the treadmill. I am even scared to think about how many calories I ingested, while also doing some serious damage to my liver in the process. Yet, am I really complaining? Quite the contrary! This was three days of delicious consumption of some of what the best UWS restauranteurs in NYC had to offer. Of course, it was like eating my way around the world. A smorgasboard of gastronomic delirium as presented over a three night event called New Taste of the Upper West Side!

I was honored and humbled that my blog was considered to help promote and cover this fine event May 27 – May 30. As I put on my media pass each night it unlocked a world of eats and drinks all under one tent, and in a fabulous park setting, that is a must for any NYC food aficionado to attend and be a part of. It’s not too often that I wave the white flag and cry out “no mas” but after three days of enjoying so much terrific food, wine, beer, desserts, and cocktails I think I need to dry out and detox a bit. It was certainly something I won’t soon forget and I’m actually looking forward to next year’s party! Better start my diet now! Continue reading New Taste of the UWS. Get a Fried Chicken Baby Belly at Bobwhite NYC!

One of the finest fried chicken dinners I have eaten here in the city!

Seems like many spots are opening up across NYC nowadays touting their famous fried chicken. I have tried many of them but still keep coming back to Bobwhite to get my fried chicken fix. Bobwhite Lunch & Supper Counter is the shady street corner pusher feeding my fried chicken addiction.

And why not? Their chicken kicks ass!

It’s a small spot so sometimes there is a wait. No biggie as it seems most will come here to chow down then leave and not linger. I really hate those people who will hang around and talk and talk after they are finished and just sip their drinks or ask for more water taking forever to give up the table. Get done and get the heck out!  How dare you make us wait in starving drooling anticipation! Leave! Continue reading Get a Fried Chicken Baby Belly at Bobwhite NYC!

Feasting at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill in Atlantic City!

l (4)

It’s not every day that you get to dine in extravagance within the realm of a celebrity chef. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. Such was the case not too long ago when we spent a three-day wild weekend in Atlantic City, NJ.

The only thing that could have made this event even better is if Gordon Ramsay himself came over and cursed us out. Mr Hell’s Kitchen himself could not have made this extra special top-secret tasting event more exceptional, but having a seating as guests of the event organizers themselves sitting at their table sharing a fabulous off-the-hook dinner was pretty mega-star in itself! Yeah, we special!

Located where the old Mia restaurant was in Caesars AC the new Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill is a breath of fresh air, and a must needed boost to the tired scene that was here. Loved the design and layout of the place. Think British pub type dark woods and flair. Big bar and plenty of seating all around. Wonderful decor and ambiance. We were escorted by a hostess to a private dining room where we were greeted, and about 20-25 or so other hand selected participants joined us. Little did we know what we were about to experience, but the culinary delight that followed blew away all expectations! We thought this was going to be a tasting, but in fact turned out to be a full sit down four course dinner! Including drinks, cocktails, beer, wine! OMG! Just being invited to this made traveling down early on a Friday to Atlantic City so even more worth it. We were in shock and awe as the full cocktail offerings and special dinner menu was placed before us. Continue reading Feasting at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill in Atlantic City!

Stumbling upon foodgasmic bliss at Ichabod’s in NYC!

Dry aged ribeye for two. Yes, this gave me the meat sweats. So glorious!

While out doing some much-needed clothes shopping recently it was becoming late in the day and we were a couple of hangry, yes hangry I said, monkeys. Hangry – extreme anger with excessive hunger. Shopping for clothes will do that to a person, especially when you can’t find anything that fits or looks right. Wandering around the downtown area of NYC we happened upon Ichabod’s and took a chance they would seat us as it was prime dinner time. What a terrific food find this was! It’s one of those spots that once you experience it you’ll be thinking about the next time you’re in the area to make sure you drop in again. Exceptional service, food, and cocktails. Worth every penny. Small spot so reservations are a good idea. Even so, they found us a table for two that we could have for an hour and a half and it worked out great.

Don’t ask me why I am reviewing this meal backwards so just go with it as every course was memorable. Maybe the gluttonous pig in me remembered devouring that awesome dessert first! Continue reading Stumbling upon foodgasmic bliss at Ichabod’s in NYC!
