I don’t normally post about politics as I constantly find the whole political process a mixed bag of infuriating mumbo jumbo along with a sack full of power hungry liars tossing mud at each other as if they are on a bad Bravo reality tv show. You can easily switch out the annoying do-nothing talentless housewives of “insert city here” with the candidates running for Mayor and get the same shrill characters screaming and slap fighting each other. It’s a sad state of political affairs here in New York state being that arrests are seemingly coming every week lately over who embezzled what and stole from whom. Now on the horizon rising like a Phoenix out of the ashes comes disgraced ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner possibly ready to announce a run for NYC Mayor. Maybe “rising” is not a stong enough term to describe this vigilant sexter, but more like “ejaculating” would be sufficiently appropriate! This is not a day for a frivilous post about food, drinking, ranting or raving. It’s not a day for being all funny and goofy. I had other posts ready but decided that with the recent events to put up a more somber and respectful article expressing my thoughts on what just had occurred up in Boston.
I have seen and been through a lot during my life on this green planet that we call home. Yesterday started out as a beautiful spring day. No one could have foreseen what was about to take place at what should have been a joyous occasion. What started off as a day of celebration in Boston for Patriots Day and the Boston Marathon turned into utter chaos and tragedy. As the events unfolded before our eyes we all were again faced with the stark realities of terror, and the world we all now reside in. I have now seen this all too often. We all have. When will it end? Why does this keep happening? Is there any way we can really fully prepare for this in the future? There are no true answers to these questions. All I know is that we all have seen and experienced enough of this sadness.
This is yet another tragic day in American history. In world history. We must all stay strong and be resiliant yet again. We must not give in to the fear of terror and hate, but rise above it. Whether you are a religious person or not, say a prayer if you feel up to it for those who were affected by yesterday’s attack on human dignity. So many people were hurt, maimed, and even killed due to these senseless actions of someone or some group whose sole purpose was to inflict pain and hurt on our people. On our country. On our collective pshyche. Continue reading I will say a prayer for you today Boston.
I have not checked the stats on my blog lately and just today gave it a thorough look. WordPress offers some terrific programs to check all types of stats on blogs – page views, search engines, links, clicks, daily, weekly, monthly, etc. They offer a terrific summary if you keep track of that sort of thing. I kind of look at it once in a while as I am still doing this for fun and it’s an enjoyable hobby. I don’t really know where I want to take this blog yet but I’m having a blast in the meantime. Discovered some really nice people out in the blogosphere that write some terrific blogs which I follow now. I also had help along the way from a bunch of good friends and fellow bloggers that offered advice and instruction. I really did not know what I was doing! Continue reading 10,000 page views! How and when did that happen?
In a city where it seems you have to mortgage away your life savings just to live here sometimes you have to make some tough decisions when it comes to spending. Especially when it comes to nightlife, dining, and fun time! The majority of us are barely getting by as most of our paychecks are handed over for rent, bills, and the basic necessities of life. Hey, one must have enough toilet paper on hand at all times! We New Yorkers are a city of people that work hard and play hard. After a long work week we still find a way to go out and party, even if that means digging into our cash pile meant for bills, or we dig in the couch cushions and coat pockets for enough change to have some drinks. Isn’t it a thrill when you come up on some dollar bills you had stuffed into a pocket and forgot about months ago? Heck, I need to find some way to keep my thirst for good booze quenched!
