That’s the word that came to mind when we stepped in here last night to see the Whitesnake concert in this beautifully renovated theater.
The Kings Theatre is easy to get to from Manhattan by taking the Q subway to the Beverly Road station and walking a few minutes over. It was that simple.
I just could not fathom that this theater was closed for decades. They did a wonderful job bringing it back to its ornate glory. The thick dark woods, chandeliers, red velvet curtains, period furniture, images along the walls, the ceilings in the lobby and main theater, the regal architectural stylings, the amazing faces and carvings along the walls around the stage, and the old school marquee out front listing the night’s event were all breathtaking. There truly is so much to see here, especially if you are one who enjoys the grandiosity of old-school architecture, and a piece of Brooklyn that harkens to a bygone era of NYC entertainment. Now, here in NYC we all love the cool events and happenings that are afforded to the fair citizens of this metropolis. We also love brunch. Especially if booze is involved. Oh, booze must be involved! There is no brunch like a boozy brunch. Heck, sometimes people like myself even enjoy breakfast foods for dinner. Combine eating breakfast for dinner while sipping cocktails on board the deck of an aircraft carrier with a view of the NYC skyline all lit up at night and that makes our heads explode!
The Village Voice’s inaugural Brunch Eats on Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 will be a Breakfast-for-Dinner event held from 8:00pm-11:00pm. The sister event to the annual SELL OUT event Choice Eats, Brunch Eats will feature 20+ of New York City’s top restaurants and bakeries lauded in the Village Voice who will present their best breakfast bites, mouth-watering brunch dishes plus themed cocktails including bloody marys, mimosas, bellinis, coffee, live music and more.
Guests will sample and sip from all attending participants for one ticket price aboard the Flight Deck on top of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum amongst propeller planes that were used during World War II. Guests can expect to rise and dine with breakfast and brunch favorites ranging from doughnuts to eggs and bacon to pastries. Oh My!!!
Check out the list of participants so far (drooling over here already) – Continue reading The Village Voice Brunch Eats in NYC on the Intrepid!
Well, Hola Everyone!
It’s been a while since I posted here as things have been in flux with my life. Job has been a bit stressful lately, but that seems to be the story with most of us toiling in the corporate world. Still waiting with bated breath for that big Powerball win. What’s up with that shizz anyway? Sparky wants to get paid, dammit!
Anyway, I decided to get back to writing here and offering up my chicken scratch for your consumption. Just about a month ago I ran in the Cupid’s Undie Run for charity. It was damn cold that Valentine’s Day weekend with frigid temps and wind gusts that would make even Santa Claus freeze his snowballs off. Even so, we persevered and ran along the West Side Highway on that cold but thankfully sunny day in our undies. Sure, I did sport my red heart decorated boxers, red Deadpool shirt (because it was a love story!) and red top hat, but I also cheated a bit and wore a terrifically warm fluffy red robe that I earned as an award for my fundraising. Heck, as long as I earned that thing I was going to wear it! No freezing my coconuts off for this kid! Needed any heat source possible on this day. Holy crap what is going on with this weather in NYC? I’m gonna freeze my nuts off tomorrow running outside in the Cupid’s Undie Run! It’s for a great cause so kids with Neurofibromatosis (NF), also known as children’s tumors, can grow up happy and healthy. Worth a bit of shrinkage and hard perky nipples wouldn’t you agree?
Yeah, I’m basically gonna be freezing my man-buns off as I strip down to my underpants to be a part of the Cupid’s Undie Run in the cold on February 13th in NYC along with many others contributing to this children’s cause. So here I am getting talked into doing this after running Warrior Dashes and Tough Mudders. In my undies. In the dead of Winter. At least there will be no obstacles this time. Just some extremely cold air that has invaded the NYC area which would make a polar bear pack up and move to Florida. I think I can handle that. Just have to get through a 1.5 mile run and hit the bar with all my fellow runners and teammates afterwards. Hot toddies please! (I might pour one down my underwear after this run!)
This is the last chance to donate to such a worthwhile cause, and it’s for the kids! Any amount is so appreciated. Link to my charity page –
Look, all the talk about shrinkage is real. I need to keep my junk warm so I will have some layers and stuffing going on down there. No one wants a frostbitten hotdog and coconuts! Ouch! Continue reading Gonna freeze my nuts off for charity! Cupid’s Undie Run!
