It’s one of those days when I woke up to a head cold and feel like crapola. I just want to drink a bottle of Nyquil and crawl back under the covers and go to sleep for three days. Since I have very little tolerance for the stuff anyway usually a full cap full will do the trick. Alas, since I am going away on vacation this Friday to see the parental units in Florida I need to be at work and get a lot accomplished before I head out on my favorite US airline – JetBlue. Gotta have my snacks and in-flight TV! Plus, I need to be rested and well for a trip to the Disney Parks. When you have mom and dad with you for five days in DisneyWorld things can get a bit crazed and nerves can be frayed. Those of you out there who deal with cray cray parents on a daily basis know what I mean. At least Epcot has the Wine & Beer Expo going on, so that will be one afternoon I will be intoxicated and numb to all around me! Hey Mom – you’re driving! Me and Dad are getting crunk!
Anyhoo, in honor of my stuffed nose and achy head I think it’s time for a bit of ranting and raving. Just going to work today I noticed some things that put me in a more foul mood than this cold already has me in. It’s one of those days when I just want to “smack someone upside the head” observing some of the things I see people do that annoy me in NYC. Wandering around the Revel this past weekend we were trying to decide on which place to eat but many had a long wait. When we saw Village Whiskey we decided to give it a shot and were seated immediately. So glad we did as this place rocks!
Loved the atmosphere as the design and decor reminds one of a speakeasy as it’s dimly lit, retro-Edison lighting, subway tiled walls, worn looking mirrors, and there was even old time music playing when we entered (even though it switched to modern rock and pop later on). Even though not overly spacious there is plenty of booth seating for large groups and single tables for couples. Large candle lit bar area. You can tell some solid thought was put into designing this place. Also, we were seated across the open kitchen and it was cool to watch the chefs at work. Every plate looked wonderful that was put up. Continue reading Village Whiskey – Iron Chef Jose Garces Does It Right!
Mmmmm….soy garlic chicken drumsticks! Kim Chi coleslaw! My taste buds and head were swooning in foodgasm over this crispy delight!
I don’t give a damn what anyone else has to say about this Bon Chon Chicken location. Really, I don’t. Just stop, please, stop your whining.
I did not have any problems with the service when I dropped by here for a late lunch today. In fact, everyone was quite nice, attentive, and my food came out quickly.
I didn’t use no stinking Groupon or Living Social deal or any dang coupons. Sometimes you have to just suck it up and pay the real price. Wahhhh – they did not want to accept by coupon. Wahhhh. Oh, just shut up already before I beat you with a chicken bone! Continue reading Crispy foodgasm drumsticks – Bon Chon Chicken NYC!
We who live here in New York love to go out to eat. It’s one of our pastimes that we all adhere to. Brunch has become a rite of passage. We mostly know that we can save a boat full of cash by cooking at home with more regularity, but then that means having to actually go out grocery shopping, preparing and cooking the actual meals, and then having to clean up the mess we make. It just seems easier to head out to one of the bazillion eateries and cafes that inhabit our fair city to enjoy a meal served to us. With the diverse amount of food stuffs offered here in our melting pot we have a cultural smorgasbord to choose from. No muss, no fuss.
Then again, along with the pleasantries of dining out there are the pitfalls that go along with it. Fellow obnoxious diners alongside you can easily ruin a nice meal. Restaurants can drive us batty with their rules and regulations. Clueless wait staff makes one want to scream. There are just so many to choose from! I give to you my fellow frustrated diners a list of rants & ravings based on my observations and experiences over my many years of dining out.
