Guac! Mole! Cascalote Latin Bistro in El Barrio, NYC!

Wonderful food and service up in El Barrio, NYC!

Delicious guacamole, and the salmon special on a bed of plantains was just perfect. I scarfed it all down while enjoying a damn fine Mojito. My taste buds were singing. My belly was happy. My gluttonous desires were completely satisfied.

My gal totally gushed over the chicken mole. That mole sauce was righteous! Oh, and they don’t skimp on the portions. You go home full after a meal here with a food baby in tow.

We walked in on a weekday evening while exploring a bit of Spanish Harlem and found an empty restaurant, but decided to give it a try. So happy we did as I was in the mood for some cocktails and authentic Latin eats. Cascalote Latin Bistro did not disappoint. Continue reading Guac! Mole! Cascalote Latin Bistro in El Barrio, NYC!

Doggy Bags, Leftovers, Facehuggers. Oh My!

If you are a fan of, or know of, Lisa Lampanelli and her comedic style you are aware of her raunchiness and “in your face” stand up routine. If you went in expecting that you were disappointed. This was a surprisingly tempered performance, and offered way more drama and human insight than laughs and guffaws. Body image was on the agenda, along with a discussion of foods we all know and clamor for whether during happy times, or as crutch during sad moments in life. Cupcakes and Wine at Sweet Revenge in NYC

Cupcakes and wine? Sure, deal me in! After all, living well is Sweet Revenge, and since this was the name of the place in NYC it’s kind of appropriate.

We were on a cheat day when it came to eating, and after dinner close by decided to check this place out as we were still in time for cupcake and wine happy hour. Yes, that really is a thing here. Oh boy!

It was absolutely empty when we arrived. Service was pleasant but not overly attentive. Just right as we wanted to relax and chat. Small location with some seating and a small bar area. Continue reading Cupcakes and Wine at Sweet Revenge in NYC
