Osteria Cotta – a Little Italian Hideaway in NYC

Wandering around the Upper West Side of NYC recently I was looking for a spot to meet a friend for a few happy hour cocktails. I happened to discover Osteria Cotta nestled in spot off 85th and Columbus. I peeked in and viewed a really nice little joint. Very rustic feel. Lots of wood, brick, and iron lamps hanging from the ceiling. Had to go inside to check out the bar area and look around.

Two stories with dining seating on both levels, main bar on lower floor, and some outside seating. Open kitchen to watch pizzas being made in the brick ovens. Love this kind of ambiance.

Happy hour? Solid! Sit at the bar from 5-7pm on Mon-Wed and enjoy a really good happy hour on drinks and menu items. 3-7pm happy hour Thurs and Fri. Can’t go wrong here. Continue reading Osteria Cotta – a Little Italian Hideaway in NYC

This terrific NYC cocktail joint made me say – Attaboy!

Even this beer guzzler of a dude can enjoy a libation made from the finest ingredients now and then. The boozier the better I say. Living well is so choice.

Attaboy NYC! I could not believe that it had taken me this long to partake in the wonder of a liquid refreshment at this establishment. A good friend of mine asked me to accompany him on a bro-date and embellish in an evening of cocktails, conversation, carousing, and devious behavior. Who am I to decline an invite of such stupendous possibilities?

I have a soft spot for Speakeasies, as they take me back to a more civilized time of NYC history. When gentleman had manners, broke the law, and drank in secret during the idiotic Prohibition years, while keeping it all hush-hush. Honor among thieves for sure. Liquid therapy after shopping in NYC – the Flatiron Lounge

oGotta love a speakeasy happy hour 4-6 pm Mon-Fri! $10 cocktails, smooth music and some old school flapper era jazz to set the mood. Terrific atmosphere and dimly lit ambiance. Such was the wonderful tone set here at the Flatiron Lounge in NYC.

The Maple Leaf is a nice choice if in a rye whiskey mood, and it goes down nice and easy. I walked in around 5:30 and ordered my first. Didn’t take much to twist my arm and order up a second a minute before happy hour ended. Some libations are worth hanging around for.

Superior bartenders, quality cocktails, and a classy throwback decor make this a must visit if shopping in the area and need some liquid relaxation after dropping cash on some retail therapy. I so needed this in my life at that point, as I was a pressure cooker about to explode after dealing with way too many annoying tourists crowding the stores getting in my way, along with the locals dragging crying kids and baby carriages along the sidewalks. Sitting outside with Frank’s handmade pasta in NYC!

Black Linguini w/ Frutti di Mare – Just Perfect!

Delicious handmade pasta in my belly!

Frank in NYC is a cozy and homey Italian kitschy looking place with some outside seating. Can be somewhat cramped as this is a popular spot, and on a nice weather night people want to eat at the sidewalk tables. Hey, we all know it’s a NYC thing that we all love. Just put your name on the list and do the hover like a senior citizen waiting to jump on that penny slot machine as soon as someone gets off. The Evil Eye is all too real!

Wandering the area recently it was a perfect night to finally sit outside and enjoy a meal as the swamp ass heat of summer actually disappeared for a bit in NYC. So glad we gave Frank a shot. He’s a fine gent indeed! Continue reading Sitting outside with Frank’s handmade pasta in NYC!
