Come hang with Burt Reynolds at Joe’s Bar NYC!

Bowl o’ fries done right!

Hot dang, even though I have been here a few times now I’m finally writing a review for Joe’s Bar. What the heck is wrong with me? This is one of the best spots on the Upper West Side of NYC to chill out at! Just let me extrapolate on their attributes hopefully without sounding like a love crazed fangirl.

Tasty burgers. Even though I am no longer eating red meat I can still rave about the juicy goodness of their cheeseburgers here. Oh, and the bowl of fries is damn skippy too!

Great music – old school 70’s rock & roll, hip hop, and rap classics playing at any time. Man, it makes one realize how bad today’s music really is. Continue reading Come hang with Burt Reynolds at Joe’s Bar NYC!

Experience the manliness that is Umami Burger NYC

ooo

I just devoured the juicy awesomeness that is the Manly Burger. I am all that is Man. And then some!

It’s kind of surreal that just a few weeks ago I dined at Umami Burger here in NYC and enjoyed every bite of this fatty, meaty, cheesy, caloriffic-laden burgery goodness. I have been sitting on this review since then and over that time I had an epiphany of sorts. I actually have decided to stop eating meat. What??? Yeah, I know, right? Seafood and healthier nutrient dense options are on the agenda now. I don’t know if I would really class myself as a Pescatarian just yet as I still love a good steak. Yet, lately I just started to get sick of eating fatty greasy meat products and yearned for a change. Especially since I am now ramping up my workouts to get in shape for summer. Let’s just see how this grand experiment all works out for me over the next three or four months.

In the meantime, let us chat about this manliness that I wrapped my lips around, shall we? Continue reading Experience the manliness that is Umami Burger NYC

Craft beer, pinball, and ping pong at Treadwell Park NYC!

Pretzels as big as your head!

Great new bar where the mediocre Neely’s BBQ used to be. It’s always a joy when my beer swilling cohorts alert me to a new craft beer discovery right in my own hood on the Upper East Side of NYC. As they were already there and invited me to join them I was unaware that a new business had opened up in this space, and as I sauntered up the street after exiting the subway a few blocks away I saw the sign on the outside for Treadwell Park.

Whoa! Terrific beer list, cocktails, ambiance, food, ping pong tables, pinball machines, popcorn machine, and flat screens all around. Holy cow – a working fireplace too! I could not believe my eyes. Can I move in? I won’t take up much space. I’ll sleep on the floor under the ping pong table.

Very nice woodsy urban cabin decor. Plenty of seating along the bar, high tops with stools, and heavy picnic benches that seats couples or groups.

Varied menu with a little something on it for everyone. Brats, sandwiches, finger foods, salads, and some main course entrees. I found the prices fair for the area, and for the type of delish craft beers curated on their list, but may seem a bit pricey for some. Still, I’m happy to shell out a few more shekels to hang out in a chill place like this and enjoy my time here. Continue reading Craft beer, pinball, and ping pong at Treadwell Park NYC!

Get your brewski on at Amity Hall in NYC!

If you love a solid selection of quality craft beers then Amity Hall in the Greenwich Village part of NYC is a terrific choice to start off your night. It you can’t stand the yuppy, preppy, frat boy crowd then for sure get here early to start off your evening. Our group did this not too long ago and quaffed down some tasty brews and ciders before making our escape to further escapades in the city.

The place itself looks great with a below street level pub area, and a much larger upstairs beer hall type room. Nice decor with brick walls, wooden bench seating, and chalkboard beer lists showing off the day’s selections. A few large flat screens in each room but not too many to make this a spots bar. It’s all about the beer here. Long lines of taps are behind each bar sporting an impressive array of craft libations.

We started off in the downstairs pub area and then moved to the upper level when it opened around 5pm. Found that many of the tables up there were already reserved but we commandeered a small bench in front of a fireplace that was just the right size for our group of happy campers. When we were handed the beer menu I was impressed. Really nice selection of beers and ciders. You have to love a $4 pint craft beer happy hour until 7pm! Yes, 12pm- 7pm! Also $4 mixed drinks and daily specials too. Continue reading Get your brewski on at Amity Hall in NYC!
