Yeah, that’s right! Like Thanos conquering worlds, and crushing Avengers, this kid crushed his second half marathon in two weeks.
In fact, this was only my second half marathon, and after the first I thought I was going to take a longer break before I attempted another. Running the Frozen Penguin Half Marathon, on my birthday, was an exercise in lunacy and a bit of masochism. It was extremely cold and windy that whole 13 miles along the water near the Verrazano Bridge. I completed the course, mercifully, and was a bit sore and tender for a few days afterwards.
You know what it’s like to be so sore it’s painful to get off the bowl after a hearty dump? Continue reading Getting In My Fix At The Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon
So much beer. As soon as I walked into Draught 55 in NYC I knew this joint lives up to its name. The beer list itself takes up two pages. I might have to revisit this place over and over to try them all!
I recently dropped in here with a friend to catch up on things. Epic beer list! $5 happy hour with a select list of brews, cocktails, wine until 8pm daily. I do wish they offered a more robust selection for the beers during HH, as only having a few available considering the monster beer list was kind of a big tease. With the amount of beer on tap I am sure they could add a few more for happy hour. Hey guys, make it happier! Continue reading Draught 55 in NYC lives up to it’s name!
Rock and Roll, baby!
Hard rock. Heavy metal. Brews served in humongous chilled goblet glasses. Old school beer memorabilia, classic rock star photos, shuffleboard, and 70’s style wooden paneling on the walls. Classic cheesecake posters of Farrah Fawcett and Cheryl Tiegs in the game room. This is the world you discover at Rocka Rolla based in Brooklyn, NYC.
It’s like a demented version of a bar if the Wayne’s World dudes decided to open a bar in their basement with partners Beavis and Butthead! Continue reading Chewie, I’m Home! The Rocka Rolla Mother Ship in Brooklyn.
So here I am all hot and sweaty in NYC. Tired feet and an achy shin. Yet, drinking a cold beer and feeling fine!
In fact, after many cold brews I was feeling no pain at all!
Such was the way I was feeling after just completing another 5K race this past week. This time I ran in the inaugural Brew Hop 5K and Beer Fest. You heard that right – a three mile run followed by booths and booths of glorious craft beer! Being there and experiencing the proceedings first hand I can say that the event was a tasty hit. 1500 thirsty runners were on hand during a beautiful end of Summer weekend to enjoy this unique run along picturesque views of Randall’s Island Park.
