Spill some blood at Duff’s in Brooklyn NYC for a very metal good cause!

For those metalheads out there we believe there is nothing more metal than spilling blood for a good cause! \m/

I have written on this blog in the past about the importance of giving blood, and referenced my own experience donating blood after Hurricane Sandy. Jimmy Duff, the owner of Duff’s, knows how vital this is to help save lives and he supports this cause wholeheartedly. It’s a wonderful thing that he has done for the community going on five years now, and we thank him for that. Hopefully, this year’s drive will be a success with good participation. Also, you get to hang out at a cool bar listening to great metal tunes. It’s a win-win all around! I will be there rolling up my sleeve for sure!

The details – On Thursday, February 6th, Duff’s in Brooklyn NYC we’ll be hosting their 5th annual blood drive in conjunction with The New York Blood Center. The blood drive starts at 6:30PM so please try to get there early (the drive runs until 11 PM), and bring identification with photo or signature. All donors will be served complimentary refreshments and will receive a free Duff’s blood drive t-shirt (shirt image is above) that is custom designed for this year’s event. Also, it’s in blood red! Learn how to prepare a Mustard Crusted Rack of Lamb and a Roasted Leg of Lamb with Fairway Market’s Chef Vincent Olivieri, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in Fairway Café & Steakhouse (2127 Broadway at W. 74th Street) at 7 pm.

Once your juices are flowing after this you will surely be ready to feast!

Then sit back and enjoy a truly memorable meal, featuring a Mustard Crusted Rack of Lamb with Fig Chutney for an appetizer, a Kale salad with butternut squash, cranberries, pumpkin seeds and cider vinaigrette, then a roasted Leg of Lamb with parsnip turnip pure and roasted Brussels sprouts, chestnut and bacon for dinner, and dessert. To blog or not to blog? When life gets in the way we freak out!

I never realized how hard mentally the blogger lifestyle can be. Those of us who are active bloggers seem to be all attached to our electronic devices. Taking pictures. Writing notes for blog ideas. Responding to comments. Reading every new blog post we follow. Commenting on others. Freaking out if we skip a few days, or losing our minds if we don’t blog for a week. I think somewhere along the way we have forgotton there is an outside world to explore. Sometimes you just need a break. Life is not supposed to just be about spending it in front of a computer. Or attached to a cell phone. Not every extra minute or spare time should be spent blogging. That pesky thing we call “life” can get in the way sometimes with family matters, events, and so on. Not to mention a full time job that actually pays bills and enables us to do fun things like having a blog on the side. Plus, since my blog is not going to buy food and booze for me anytime soon the job is priority #1.
