Now, here in NYC we all love the cool events and happenings that are afforded to the fair citizens of this metropolis. We also love brunch. Especially if booze is involved. Oh, booze must be involved! There is no brunch like a boozy brunch. Heck, sometimes people like myself even enjoy breakfast foods for dinner. Combine eating breakfast for dinner while sipping cocktails on board the deck of an aircraft carrier with a view of the NYC skyline all lit up at night and that makes our heads explode!

The Village Voice’s inaugural Brunch Eats on Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 will be a Breakfast-for-Dinner event held from 8:00pm-11:00pm. The sister event to the annual SELL OUT event Choice Eats, Brunch Eats will feature 20+ of New York City’s top restaurants and bakeries lauded in the Village Voice who will present their best breakfast bites, mouth-watering brunch dishes plus themed cocktails including bloody marys, mimosas, bellinis, coffee, live music and more.

Guests will sample and sip from all attending participants for one ticket price aboard the Flight Deck on top of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum amongst propeller planes that were used during World War II. Guests can expect to rise and dine with breakfast and brunch favorites ranging from doughnuts to eggs and bacon to pastries. Oh My!!!

Check out the list of participants so far (drooling over here already) – Continue reading The Village Voice Brunch Eats in NYC on the Intrepid!

Frozen coconuts for a cause at the NYC Cupid’s Undie Run!

Well, Hola Everyone!

It’s been a while since I posted here as things have been in flux with my life. Job has been a bit stressful lately, but that seems to be the story with most of us toiling in the corporate world. Still waiting with bated breath for that big Powerball win. What’s up with that shizz anyway? Sparky wants to get paid, dammit!

Anyway, I decided to get back to writing here and offering up my chicken scratch for your consumption. Just about a month ago I ran in the Cupid’s Undie Run for charity. It was damn cold that Valentine’s Day weekend with frigid temps and wind gusts that would make even Santa Claus freeze his snowballs off. Even so, we persevered and ran along the West Side Highway on that cold but thankfully sunny day in our undies. Sure, I did sport my red heart decorated boxers, red Deadpool shirt (because it was a love story!) and red top hat, but I also cheated a bit and wore a terrifically warm fluffy red robe that I earned as an award for my fundraising. Heck, as long as I earned that thing I was going to wear it! No freezing my coconuts off for this kid! Needed any heat source possible on this day. Come hang with Burt Reynolds at Joe’s Bar NYC!

Bowl o’ fries done right!

Hot dang, even though I have been here a few times now I’m finally writing a review for Joe’s Bar. What the heck is wrong with me? This is one of the best spots on the Upper West Side of NYC to chill out at! Just let me extrapolate on their attributes hopefully without sounding like a love crazed fangirl.

Tasty burgers. Even though I am no longer eating red meat I can still rave about the juicy goodness of their cheeseburgers here. Oh, and the bowl of fries is damn skippy too!

Great music – old school 70’s rock & roll, hip hop, and rap classics playing at any time. Man, it makes one realize how bad today’s music really is. Continue reading Come hang with Burt Reynolds at Joe’s Bar NYC!

Playa Betty’s for California-style beach food in NYC

o

Dropped in this relatively new spot for some eats on the Upper West Side of NYC after seeing Deadpool again. Yes, I went and saw it again. I had an excuse this time as I took my gal who loved it. Bad thing is she now keeps talking about Ryan Reynolds’ body. I had better keep up with this new training and eating regimen! No chimichangas for this guy!

Man, as many have noticed the service here at Playa Betty’s is extremely slow and a bit confused. Our server, even though nice enough, seemed frazzled.

Our bill was screwed up and they asked me twice if we had ordered something put on the bill that we did not order. Um, you’re our server. You took our order. Did you not realize you didn’t give this phantom item to us?

Also, I’m not a fan of when the main courses arrive literally two minutes after the appetizer is placed on the table. No bueno. Spacing people, spacing! Continue reading Playa Betty’s for California-style beach food in NYC
