If you love a solid selection of quality craft beers then Amity Hall in the Greenwich Village part of NYC is a terrific choice to start off your night. It you can’t stand the yuppy, preppy, frat boy crowd then for sure get here early to start off your evening. Our group did this not too long ago and quaffed down some tasty brews and ciders before making our escape to further escapades in the city.
The place itself looks great with a below street level pub area, and a much larger upstairs beer hall type room. Nice decor with brick walls, wooden bench seating, and chalkboard beer lists showing off the day’s selections. A few large flat screens in each room but not too many to make this a spots bar. It’s all about the beer here. Long lines of taps are behind each bar sporting an impressive array of craft libations.
We started off in the downstairs pub area and then moved to the upper level when it opened around 5pm. Found that many of the tables up there were already reserved but we commandeered a small bench in front of a fireplace that was just the right size for our group of happy campers. When we were handed the beer menu I was impressed. Really nice selection of beers and ciders. You have to love a $4 pint craft beer happy hour until 7pm! Yes, 12pm- 7pm! Also $4 mixed drinks and daily specials too. Continue reading Get your brewski on at Amity Hall in NYC!→
Oh, I remember last year when we washed ashore in Red Hook, Brooklyn, then went whole hog and feasted on some tasty porky eats and brewtastic libations! Well, looks like we will raise the sails and wash the poop deck again as we are headed back to Pig Island on Saturday Sept 12 to pig out on all things hog, and wash it down with cold beer, wine, cider, and some whiskey too! Now that’s the way to spend a NYC weekend afternoon at the end of summer. Who said the summer is over? Not when we have these kinds of festivals going on.
Oh, that’s right, did I say there will now be whiskey featured at this swinetacular event? Yes siree Bob! What better way to wash down some pig than with a fine liquor to soothe the palate. An artisan whiskey tent on hand is expected to include local and regional spirits from High West, NY Distilling and Van Brunt Stillhouse, among others. Reverend Nat’s Cider, and Sixpoint craft beer will be among the other libations. Get in mah bellah!
As most of you reading this blog know beer is one of my favorite liquids to consume! I’ve always had a taste for the suds, and a well made craft brew is high on my list of libations. I’ve been kind of thirsty lately and with the NYC Craft Beer Festival Autumn Harvest coming up this weekend it is the perfect cure to quench my thirst. With an abundance of breweries on hand showcasing some of their best varieties there will be something for everyone’s palate to try. I can’t wait to get in there this weekend and hit the ground running. Mmmm…..beer. There are still tickets available but they are going fast. With this being Halloween weekend the spirits will be out in force enjoying a good time. Beer!
One thing I do enjoy about living in NYC are the abundance of outdoor events we can enjoy here. I do sometimes forget that we live along the water right on the Atlantic Ocean and the multiple waterfronts offer amazing views for ample public events to take place. I happened to partake in one this weekend called Pig Island, and it was on the waterfront in Red Hook, Brooklyn. As the name implies this one was all about the pork and I did make quite a pig out of myself. Beer, cider, wine, pig and pork products. Oh my! The tickets were all inclusive and we took full advantage of it. Talk about being a total piggy! By the end of the day we rolled out of there. I ate so much pig! Drank so much beer and cider! Oink!
