Escaping NYC for a few days and heading to Las Vegas for a biz trip. Normally, that would be all fine and dandy except for the fact that it’s a raging inferno of heat there this week! Temps soaring close to 110 degrees each day makes for extreme swamp ass!
Dry air my ass! Hot is hot!
Business travel is always a hassle, but a necessary evil for many of us. Especially those of us in the ad sales game. There are always numerous clients to visit, conventions to attend, and other various business functions in different places. I used to actually enjoy flying, as I still like to visit different cities across the USA and see the sights when I have the time. It used to be a lot of fun. Yet, nowadays air travel makes me want to strangle people! I think many of us feel that way. At least now we have the option to stay connected up in the air. I am using the plane’s WiFi and typing this all in real-time as it’s happening. Continue reading Ranting away at 30,000 feet in the air. Heat, farts, and biz travel.
As I am sitting here in my favorite coffee shop on the Upper East Side on this cold and blustery NYC morning I’m looking out the window and pondering the sweet mysteries of life. Most notably right now I’m watching the wind blow around the snow flurries that are coming down. Snow! God damn snow! It’s supposed to be Spring dammit! Go away Winter, enough already. I’ll be the first to admit I do like the colder dry air of the winter season but this is getting on my last nerve. All I ask for now is a few days of sunny weather in the 50’s at this point. Is that asking too much? Oh great, now it’s really coming down. It looks like we’re inside a giant snow globe. It’s 33 and snowing out yet there are some idiots walking by wearing shorts. People here are getting so pissed off at the weather they are rebelling. That’s all cool as I’m kind of like that too, but I’m not dumb enough to go out and catch pneumonia. As they saying goes, I might be dumb but I ain’t stupid! Continue reading Snow, Selfies, Fires, Sniffing Glue – Another Week in NYC!
There is nothing more terrifying than having your cell phone die on you! In this day and age of being connected 24/7 the ability to tap a few aps, access a phone list, use social networking, or surf the net with the touch of a finger is a godsend to me as I am always using them, as are many others out there reading this I’m sure. I’m a Droid phone guy and swear by it. I love my phone as if it’s my own child. My phone is like a part of me, and I feel totally naked without it. Oh, the agony! I feel as if my puppy has been taken away from me. Well, actually it feels more like a kick in the groin! I was using it this morning as I normally do to check my email and Facebook and all of a sudden it just froze. After repeatedly trying to start and unstart it with no reaction I removed the battery and popped it back in. Still nothing and still frozen. Then it made some weird screen pixilation and went black. Oh my God – I just witnessed the cell phone equivalent of a person dying with it’s last gasp in my arms! I literally started to feel queasy. I started to panic at the thought of being disconnected from the world for a whole day. That, and I can’t remember anyone’s phone numbers anymore! I’m screwed! Continue reading Holy crap my cell phone died! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
I never realized how hard mentally the blogger lifestyle can be. Those of us who are active bloggers seem to be all attached to our electronic devices. Taking pictures. Writing notes for blog ideas. Responding to comments. Reading every new blog post we follow. Commenting on others. Freaking out if we skip a few days, or losing our minds if we don’t blog for a week. I think somewhere along the way we have forgotton there is an outside world to explore. Sometimes you just need a break. Life is not supposed to just be about spending it in front of a computer. Or attached to a cell phone. Not every extra minute or spare time should be spent blogging. That pesky thing we call “life” can get in the way sometimes with family matters, events, and so on. Not to mention a full time job that actually pays bills and enables us to do fun things like having a blog on the side. Plus, since my blog is not going to buy food and booze for me anytime soon the job is priority #1.
It was time to take a deep breath, take the plunge, and disconnect for a bit! Continue reading To blog or not to blog? When life gets in the way we freak out!
