For those of us who aren’t the sharpest tools around the kitchen a few cooking lessons now and then wouldn’t hurt, right? Well then, if you are in the NYC area take the chance to swing by this nifty cooking event! Learn how to make some lamb, enjoy a terrific dining experience, and also feel good about helping out a wonderful charity along the way.

Learn how to prepare a Mustard Crusted Rack of Lamb and a Roasted Leg of Lamb with Fairway Market’s Chef Vincent Olivieri, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in Fairway Café & Steakhouse (2127 Broadway at W. 74th Street) at 7 pm.

Once your juices are flowing after this you will surely be ready to feast!

Then sit back and enjoy a truly memorable meal, featuring a Mustard Crusted Rack of Lamb with Fig Chutney for an appetizer, a Kale salad with butternut squash, cranberries, pumpkin seeds and cider vinaigrette, then a roasted Leg of Lamb with parsnip turnip pure and roasted Brussels sprouts, chestnut and bacon for dinner, and dessert. The meal will be complimented with award-winning Aussie extra-virgin olive oil and paired with Australian wines selected by Fairway Market wine guru Joshua Wesson.

Holy Lamb Batman! Good thing I can just wave down a taxi to take me home after what will be an amazing meal experience that will leave me stuffed!

Tickets are $60 and all proceeds will go to the New York Common Pantry, which is New York City’s largest community-based food pantry and is designed to meet the needs of our families by providing culturally-appropriate and nutritiously-balanced food.

  1. What a great way to raise money for a good cause. My older son and I are lamb lovers. I would definitely be there if I were anywhere near NYC. You’re just going to have to go for me.

  2. I’m a terrible cook and have never even tried eating lamb. I can’t imagine cooking it, but I hear it’s wonderful. I’ll have to take your word for it!

  3. Cool deal. The entire menu sounds fantastic, well, except for those Brussels sprouts. And the price seems reasonable, especially since you’ll be getting wine with the meal. And, it’s for a good cause. I wish I could say sign me up, but my taxi ride would be impossible to pay for so I’ll just rely on your attendance to report back about what I’m going to miss.

      Yes, the price is a deal, especially for Manhatttan, and it’s for such a good cause.

      You could always take your private jet over here, and then have Donald Trump pick you up in his limo!

  4. Everything sounds great, Phil.. .except for the lamb, sorry. 🙂 But, that’s just me.. probably one of the few meats I won’t eat. However, the cause sounds awesome, and I hope it will be a huge success!

      Lamb is not for everyone’s taste. I wasn’t a huge fan either until recently, and I’m also always into a good cause for charity.

  5. An enticing event for an exceptional cause. I love lamb too. This is another of those fabulous New York events that folks like me- so close- but yet so- far always envy in Philly, most always beginning on a week night at the 7:00 hour, ensuring a way too late arrival back home. Looks fantastic though and surely will be a great success! Thanks for sharing!

      I’m always on board for a good cause and fun event with food and wine!

      Yes, I am lucky that in Manhattan I can take a cab or subway and be home quickly. I’m sure there are events like this in Philly you can attend.

  6. I love a good rack of lamb—haven’t had any since I was still living at home during my college years! I have no clue how to cook it, either. Too bad I don’t live closer to attend this class!
