Sometimes you just want to enjoy the simple things in life. No muss, no fuss.
A good bacon cheeseburger.
Crispy tasty fries.
A cold pint of beer.
Corner Bistro in Long Island City, Queens NYC is one of those spots that can be described as basic and understated, yet cozy and inviting. Sparsely decorated with just a few beer signs on the walls, tin ceiling, small chalkboard listing the beers on tap, and a few large flat screens showing the daily sports events. Nice bar that seats around a dozen around it, and a separate dining area with some tables and chairs. Friendly no-nonsense bartender and great service. Not your normal definition of a burger joint but more like a bar that serves up some delicious burgers in a clean and simple environment.

When I took a seat at the bar that night I immediately noticed they had McSorely’s dark and light on tap. Along with Yuengling, Stella, Blue Moon, Smutty Nose IPA, Blue Point, and Sierra Nevada it makes for an efficient little quality beer selection. Also a small amount of assorted bottled beer to choose from. I am always in the mood for a good pint so I went with McSorely’s dark, and at only $4.50 it was a good deal.
The food menu here is tiny but gets right to business. Basically just a few burgers, sandwiches, salads, and fries. I ordered up the Bistro Burger that comes with American cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and fresh onions piled high and a soft bun. Juicy and delicious! Worth the $8. As a side I had to try the Sweet Potato Fries for only $3.50 and I received a good sized plate of potatoey goodness. Cooked just right with a nice crispiness and flavor. This was a perfectly satisfying meal to end out the weekend.
Affordable tasty burgers and cheap beer in a welcoming atmosphere. Heck, I might have to take the train out to Long Island City in Queens more often!
Nothing wrong with the simple things now and then.

No, there is nothing wrong with that, especially when it involves bacon. And meat. And fries. And beer. Mmmmmm!
Hey Mary!
Truly the meal of kings and queens!
Now THAT’S what I’m talkin’ about!
There are few things in life better than a bacon cheeseburger and a good cold beer.
Except a bacon cheeseburger and TWO good cold beers!
Hey Fearless!
I could have eaten three of those burgers and three cold beers, but I’m watching my girlish figure.
Yum- I want some of those sweet potato fries. I’ll be having a bacon cheeseburger for lunch today as well!
Hey Holli!
I envy you! I want one for lunch now too!
You can’t unfriend me for saying this but… I hate bacon, in fact I hate all things pig. But a good cheeseburger and some crispy fries is right up my alley, especially fries!
Hey Emily!
No harm no foul. More bacon for me then!
I love me a good cheeseburger and fries…and beer. And lots of bacon. You can keep the onions. Some days there is simply nothing better than going to a local casino and grabbing a burger. We have a great one near our place that we love to go to. For under $20 (before tip) the two of us can have a burger, fries and a beer. I’ll show you a pic one of these days.
Hey Kim!
Bacon cheeseburgers, beer, and gambling? Deal me in!
You had sweet potato fries?? I am really, REALLY craving sweet potato fries right now!
Hey Mitzie!
Love sweet potato fries! I think I am craving them more than normal fries. Don’t even get me started on tater tots!
I like simple and that looks goood…I might have to find my way to a cold beer some time today….
Hey Hazy!
Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that make us happy.
Ah, the simple things in life. I love good burgers and ice cold beer, especially after a long hot summer day.
Get Thee to Queens!

Hey Patricia!
It’s warm and sunny here today in NYC and I think I’ll sit at an outdoor cafe for a beer and burger myself!
This looks simply great Phil. The most important thing about a restaurant to me is that whatever they do, they do it right. I care little about lengthy menus, always about doing it best, weather a four star French style prie fixe, classic bistro, or a simple burger or hot dog, each has its place and merits, when done well. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Peggy!
I agree. Many times menus are just too big and read like an encyclopedia. Sometimes simple and good is better.
I love these sorts of places. Not much on the outside, but sweet momma on the inside. I’m still in shock at the $4.50 that is less than the plastic cup filled shit beer at the ballpark. This place sounds like a gem.
Hey Lisa!
I also like places like these. They know what they are doing and do it well. Good beer prices to boot!
Simplicity can be oh-so-lovely & delicious!
Ahhh, the life of Phil! )) x
Hey Kim!
A simple burger. A simple beer. Some simple fries. Life is good!
That burger looked to die for! Thanks for making me salivate…
Hey Kitt!
I always enjoy making a woman drool over my meat! 😉
