Hot dang, even though I have been here a few times now I’m finally writing a review for Joe’s Bar. What the heck is wrong with me? This is one of the best spots on the Upper West Side of NYC to chill out at! Just let me extrapolate on their attributes hopefully without sounding like a love crazed fangirl.
Tasty burgers. Even though I am no longer eating red meat I can still rave about the juicy goodness of their cheeseburgers here. Oh, and the bowl of fries is damn skippy too!
Great music – old school 70’s rock & roll, hip hop, and rap classics playing at any time. Man, it makes one realize how bad today’s music really is.

Eclectic beer list. More than enough of a selection on tap, in cans, and bottles. Sierra Nevada, Founders, Dogfish, Left Hand, Ballast Point, Evil Twin, Troegs, Victory, Ballast Point, etc.
House cocktail list. With concoctions such as the Sex Machine, Night Fever, Scooby Snack, and Flash Gordon’s Breakfast you can’t go wrong. Then again, just have a Burt Reynolds and all will be ok with the world ( a beer and a shot of whiskey).
Friendly staff and bartenders. From the bouncer/manager to the bar staff they are all pretty cool.
Terrific vibe. Long bar with plenty of stools, comfy bench seating and tables. Nice decor.

Kitchen open late. Yeah, because sometimes after a late night out partying you just need a good burger. Small menu though. The times I have been here we have rolled in after midnight. Food! Boom!
Prices are ok but for what they do charge for a burger you would think a side of fries would accompany it. Charging for both separately gets a bit costly. At least they do offer a happy hour here too. Overall, this is more of a gathering spot for those who want some good drinks, conversation with quality music in the background, and a small bite to nosh on.
Can’t ask for much more than that. If you want to avoid the fratty crowds that pack into the beer swilling bars up in this part of town, and want a more mature laid back place to spend a few hours or more in a cozy atmosphere, then saunter up alongside Joe’s and let him take you on a magic carpet ride.

You had me at 70’s rock & roll. This place looks perfect!!
Hey Lisa!
It has become one of my favorite places. A little more of an adult spot minus the frat boy crowd.
Phil, you are making me hungry again, just look at that burger!
I’ve never heard that term of a “Burt Reynolds” before, I’ll have to remember that one.
Hey Guy!
Yeah, the Burt Reynolds thing is kind of funny. Still, can’t go wrong with a beer and a shot!
Oh man – that’s my kind of place. And who doesn’t like Burt Reynolds?
Do they have a drink called Bandit? Or a Roscoe P. Coltaine? If not, they need to.
Let the good times roll!

Hey Patricia!
That’s just what I would need! A Smokey and the Bandit themed bar!
I got to say that burger looks delicious!
Hey Cindy!
It was! And after midnight when I was craving one it hit the spot!
Hey Phil, Joe’s looks terrific, love the drink selection, music, and, the Burger looks and sounds great, with a side of fries, even if you have to pay for them.
Hey Peggy!
Just a cool spot that has great music and a chill crowd. A big change from the other bars in the area. So refreshing.
Great burgers, fun music, it all sounds great. But really you had me with that picture of the fries you lead with. Smart guy!
Hey Karen!
It’s all about a bowl of crispy seasoned fries! The music was a bonus!
Goodness. Those burgers look SO good. And I agree on fries… they need to be part of the price!
Hey PJ!
This place rocks. Too bad I have cut out all the bad eating and drinking for a while. Craving a burger!
