Christmas chilling – shopping, friends, party, and fun.

Even though there is a lot of stress at this time of the year the holiday season is a chance to relax and have some fun with friends and family. I’m still doing last minute Christmas shopping, decorating, and all the other duties attributed to the holidays but still find time to blow off some steam and kick back. It’s party time!

The other night we had a little get together at our place. It turned out well and we had a fun turnout of friends. A lot of laughs, a lot of food, and a lot of booze. It’s been a while since we had a party this size and I forgot how much work it was. It took many trips up and down a ladder to put up the lights and decorations. For two days my ass and hamstrings were hurting! I almost fell off the ladder a few times. Maybe it was because I was a wee bit drunk when doing this to begin with? Not a good idea to come back from holiday parties and climb a tall ladder to decorate.

Then there was the shopping to pick up all the booze. What’s a party without beer, wine, and liquor? Well, it’s sure not as much fun. Hey, we all like to get a bit drunk and stupid at times. Just hope no one films it! Except I forgot how heavy all this shit is when dragging it home. My back and arms were killing me. At least drinking the booze deadened the pain. You know, I just realized I could have had it all delivered for a few dollars. Yes, I am an idiot at times. Good thing I stopped half way home to have a drink at a pub.

Overall, I can’t complain because we all had a good time. Totally worth it. Had the place all set up, the booze was flowing, and many brought all kinds of food and snacks. Damn, one of our couple friends (Sally & Rich) even cooked dumplings on site for us in our mini NYC kitchen from hell. Maybe we should have parties like this every week! Even though we all went through a lot of it we still have so much beer, wine, and food left over that we really don’t have to leave the apartment for quite a few days!

We actually have a great circle of friends and makes it all worthwhile. It’s what the holidays are all about right? Chilling out and enjoying each others company. There has been so much tragedy and sadness in the news lately that sometimes we need a good time to forget if just for a while.

Ho-Ho-Ho!!!

  1. I think that Santa maybe a little bit too drunk to deliver tonight? Ho ho ho.

Merry Christmas Phil to you and yours. All the best for 2013 and your fab blog.

    1. Santa was feeling no pain! He loves a good party!

Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you and your family too. Thanks for the kind words on my blog.

  2. Has the guy next to Santa recovered yet? LOL! Looks like you had a great party. The thing I loved most about living in NYC. You could have anything delivered. I’m lazy that way. My husband and I used to have the movie, the booze and the pizza all delivered to our front door. It was heaven.

    Merry Christmas!

    1. Yes! We have our bagels, movies, and dinner delivered. Everything delivers here. It was a fun party, and best is that everyone takes a subway home. Merry Christmas!

  3. Sounds like you were having a good time. I don’t drink, but I love getting together with my family for the Christmas dinner every year and the food is always so good. Merry Christmas!

  4. Looks like you had a great time. I’m a non drinker, but I love getting together with my family every year on Christmas for those delicious Christmas Dinners. Merry Christmas!

      1. My liver is not too pleased with me right now. I am enjoying the holidays. You know you could invite a new friend or two. I am in the UK til the summer but I have been known to put back a few. I am still trying to leave down my college years. I am slowing down one glass of Chardonnay at a time!

        1. Enjoy the holidays, eat fatty foods, and drink good wine! Have fun in the UK and have a pint for me.

The liver is evil and it must be destroyed! 🙂

          1. I will have to do that. I have a few more days before my liver gets the annual detox and my brain starts to yell at me for depriving it of Chardonnay for a few months.

    1. Hey Frugal!

Glad you liked them. I love having parties even though it takes a bit of work to set up and clean up. Totally worth it. Too much fun!

Hope you have a great New Years!
