Getting In My Fix At The Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon

Yeah, that’s right! Like Thanos conquering worlds, and crushing Avengers, this kid crushed his second half marathon in two weeks.

In fact, this was only my second half marathon, and after the first I thought I was going to take a longer break before I attempted another. Running the Frozen Penguin Half Marathon, on my birthday, was an exercise in lunacy and a bit of masochism. It was extremely cold and windy that whole 13 miles along the water near the Verrazano Bridge. I completed the course, mercifully, and was a bit sore and tender for a few days afterwards.

You know what it’s like to be so sore it’s painful to get off the bowl after a hearty dump? Continue reading Getting In My Fix At The Sleepy Hollow Half Marathon

Once in a while the need to escape NYC beckons. Don’t get me wrong as I love my city but there is a lot more to see and do outside of the five boroughs. Plenty of towns up north just a train ride away of only an hour or two ride.

After spending a day trip up in Cold Spring NY wandering around, shopping, snacking, exploring, and sightseeing we checked this place out for a mid-afternoon lunch. It was called Hudson Hil’s.

Great service.
Delicious food.
Quality portions.
Bright country-style decor.
Breakfast served all day.

Boom. Continue reading Day Tripping to Hudson Hil’s in Cold Spring NY.

Ice Cream Joy at Main Street Sweets, Tarrytown NY

o
The smell of freshly made waffles and sweetness in the air is intoxicating as you walk in the front door. You get in line and anxiously wait your turn to view the multitude of inventive flavors. Diet? What diet you think. I ain’t on no diet today!

There are so many great flavors to choose from here at Main Street Sweets! I counted over thirty, and all are homemade with natural ingredients. You almost try to convince yourself that you are eating healthy! I could tell this is a well liked local place by the lines I constantly saw here over the weekend we spent up in Tarrytown, NY. Yes, I have to admit that I ended up on that line twice. Bad, bad, bad boy!

I love that they offer a sampler cup which is an ingenious way to try out five different flavors of mini scoops. It’s like a pu-pu platter of sugary goodness! Cheap too at only $3.25 and totally worth it as this cup offers just enough to satisfy the ice cream cravings. Oh, who am I kidding, as I could have eaten three of these at a sitting! Still, it was crazy good. Continue reading Ice Cream Joy at Main Street Sweets, Tarrytown NY

Riding Hell in a Handbasket all the way to NYC

151-hell-in-a-handbasket

You ever go through a day and wonder where has all the time gone?

It’s become one of those days that even if I cloned myself there would still not be enough time to get everything done. I am sitting here taking a breather while wolfing down lunch just to type this while on another window trying to answer all my emails. It’s a repetitive vicious cycle that never seems to end. On one side I feel as if I’m all caught up and raring to go as if I’m pumped up on Viagra and Red Bull, and then on the other I’m all limp as a wet noodle running in quicksand and just can’t get invigorated enough to jump over the hump. My brain feels like a bowl of jello, and not one of the good flavors. More like that green lime monstrosity that no one really seems to like. Maybe I need a mental health day soon. A day to chill out with a few drinks and lay in the sun. I really don’t take enough days off. Maybe it’s just me but I feel that if I take a well deserved day off now and now everything will end up as “Hell in a Handbasket”. Then it’s more of a shit show to deal with when I get back. I need a day soon.

Even then, as I close my eyes and let that warm sun drench my face the bluebird of happiness would probably take a seagull sized dump on my head. Isn’t life swell? Continue reading Riding Hell in a Handbasket all the way to NYC
