Journey to a Forbidden Planet in NYC!

This is so much more than a comic book store, as it’s a total NERDGASM universe!

Just an amazing place to let your inner and outer nerd run wild! Live like the Big Bang Theory on steroids in here! As I wandered around in wonderment Forbidden Planet NYC had me giddy as a little kid’s first trip to Disney World. I meandered from aisle to aisle and perused the shelves. The whole time with a smile on my face. Continue reading Journey to a Forbidden Planet in NYC!

Heading into 2016 at Ludicrous Speed! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all! It’s been one a heck of a ride in 2015 hasn’t it?

Well, here we are fresh into the New Year and with 2015 in the rear view mirror I am looking forward to see what awaits me in the next twelve months. This past year has been one of many ups and down in my life. The passing of loved ones, completing another mudder race for charity, many food and drinking adventures with friends, travel abroad, work stress along with work success, attending concerts of my fav bands while seeing some play their last shows, Broadway events, friends getting married, along with many laughs, tears, trials and tribulations along the way. As always, my rock along the way keeping me honest, and on the straight and narrow has been my gal Stacey. Sometimes I wonder why she still sticks with me as I must be a lot to handle, but for some reason she puts up with my stubbornness and shenanigans. Guess she loves me and my crazy ways. Here’s to more fun in 2016!

Eat more salads. Yeah, I know it’s pretty basic and kind of cliché when Jan 1 comes around to start a diet but I really need to cut back on the meat and crappy food eating. Gotta get those greens in even if it means sacrificing my love of greasy crispy delicious bacon. Sigh.

Jump out of a plane, climb a volcano, surf in shark infested waters, complete the NYC Marathon, run with the bulls, kayak over a waterfall, have an extreme enema, find Waldo. Screw it. I’ll just have some deep-fried Oreos and a nap.

Stop fretting over the little things. As long as I remember that we are all surrounded by assholes it will be ok. Continue reading Heading into 2016 at Ludicrous Speed! Happy New Year!

Music is Who We Are, and the Fabric of our Souls.

Music. It is one of those things in life that gives meaning, offers hope, and revives spirit in just about anyone.

I, for one, have been a music fan my whole life. Starting from the days when I was a little tyke listening to the sounds of WABC spinning the hits of the 60’s and 70’s on my parents old living room stereo, to my first rock concerts and the fun metal glam scene of the 80’s, to the current era of today’s artists. Music has always been with me. Not a day goes by when I am not listening to some sort of music. In fact, I have my Spotify on right now playing a rocking list of tunes as I am typing up this blog post. I listen to music while at work, and believe me, I am so happy to work in an office that allows us to actually play music and be creative. I could never work in one of those cube farm offices that ban the playing of music, or only allow some sort of lame soft rock and mindless pop set at a volume level barely audible. I have visited a few offices like these during biz trips and it always strikes me at how quiet they are, and how the employees seem to be expressionless drones. Ugh, not for me.

After work hours I can be found at the gym with my ear buds in place and cranking out a training session while getting pumped with great music. Even when out for a run music is with me. During my daily subway commute. Almost no matter where I am it’s with me. It’s a part of me, and I can’t fathom a life without music in it. Even my gal is a huge music fan, and as a former singer herself in bands years ago, still holds that passion close to her heart. It’s who I am and who we are as a couple, and is one thing that does bring us closer together. Music can be uplifting and energizing, and is something that goes deeper than just having something to listen to which breaks up the silence. Hey NYC – What the heck is in that backpack?

man

Seriously, what the heck are you dragging around in there? I have often wondered that myself on a daily basis here in NYC as I see people from all walks of life wearing backbacks nowadays. Growing up I never wore one of these things. In fact, I never even owned one until recently when I received it as a reward for a charity event I participated in. I used it once to carry my necessities to the Tough Mudder I did a few months back. Now it sits in a corner of my closet gathering dust and taking up space. I just don’t get why so many people see fit to wear these things every day back and forth to work or wherever they are going. I hate carrying around anything extra with me, or on me, when heading out of our apartment. I like to be loose and free. It just irritates me to no end when some of these backpack morons push into a crowded subway car wearing these things and blast me with it. Common courtesy dictates one takes it off when we are all packed in like sardines in the human orgy and non-consenting grinder that is the NYC subway system. Bad enough when some weirdo stranger, smelly dude, or over perfumed lady is rubbing up against you in a not so convivial or welcomed manner. Hey, rush hour on the NYC MTA will certainly force you to know your fellow New Yorkers up close and personal whether you like it or not! Having a backpack slammed into your face is even better! Not! I almost went all “road rage” on some hipster doofus the other day who kept hitting into me with it but refused to take it off. Really, what is so important that you need this thing attached to you? What are you hiding in there? Hmmmmm…….. Continue reading Hey NYC – What the heck is in that backpack?
