While out doing some much-needed clothes shopping recently it was becoming late in the day and we were a couple of hangry, yes hangry I said, monkeys. Hangry – extreme anger with excessive hunger. Shopping for clothes will do that to a person, especially when you can’t find anything that fits or looks right. Wandering around the downtown area of NYC we happened upon Ichabod’s and took a chance they would seat us as it was prime dinner time. What a terrific food find this was! It’s one of those spots that once you experience it you’ll be thinking about the next time you’re in the area to make sure you drop in again. Exceptional service, food, and cocktails. Worth every penny. Small spot so reservations are a good idea. Even so, they found us a table for two that we could have for an hour and a half and it worked out great.
Damn good filet mignon to go along with a wonderful sazerac cocktail. Classy boisterous joint to feed your inner carnivore. On my recent visit to this sleek and sexy haven of meat deliciousness and quality libations Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House in NYC did not disappoint.
Definitely a touch of fancy bulked up on testosterone in midtown that attracts a mix of tourists and locals alike. Even an occasional celebrity. Large sprawling restaurant with plenty of seating, thick dark woods, marble floors and stairs, high ceilings, and a huge bar anchoring this spot. Even on the rainy midweek late night that a friend brought me here the joint was jumping and amped up. Many people were still in business suits dining away on plates of meat while closing that deal or meeting up with their mistresses. Maybe even a paramour or two. Groups happily engaged in conversation. Women in designer dresses having a drink at the bar. The smell of finely cooked meat wafting through the air when brought about by a waiter. A lively manly man scene, but sexy enough to draw in plenty of ladies too. Continue reading Del Frisco’s in NYC. A sleek and sexy manly man meatfest.→
Brisket King Returns March 16, 2015! Hail to the King baby!
There is nothing more I love to eat than some tasty meat. Now that we are in the dead of winter here in the Northeast and there is a lack of outdoor meaty BBQ activities I’m hankering for a few slabs of smoky beefy goodness. Well, it just so happens that the day before all things green arrives – green beer, green food, green outfits, and drunk leprechauns with St Paddy’s Day here in NYC – we are being treated with all things BRISKET!
Brisket King returns for a third year to a larger venue! Where else to crown the King of Brisket than in Kings County? That’s right, they are heading for Brooklyn (Fort Greene) where 20+ chefs will compete for the glory of beef! Lip smacking, finger licking, juicy, melt in your mouth brisket!
One thing I do love about staying over my gal’s parents house for a visit now and then is they usually take us to J&R’s Steakhouse out in Calverton, Long Island. It’s one of pop’s favorite places, and is one of those spots that is made for one thing and one thing only –
Holy meatapocalypse! The amount of food you get here is ridiculous for the price. I guess living in NYC we are so used to overpaying for everything that J&R’s seems to be a terrific bargain. Plus, the food is actually pretty good. Just good old fashioned “stick to your ribs” comfort style food served up in large portions at a reasonable price point. Daily specials on their chalkboard for lunch and dinner are a good deal too and always worthy of a try.
On the day we came here during Christmas week I wanted to attempt the 76 ounce steak challenge, but it was not being offered anymore. What??? Something about not enough people doing it, so it was removed. Why dear God, WHY???
