The High Line – A Garden Oasis In The NYC Sky

Urban renewal sometimes does some great things. In a city where we abhor gentrification, the High Line is a welcome addition to the landscape and shows that a decaying piece of history can be reborn into something new for all to enjoy.

Coming here recently I had my reservations as to what was to be expected of this project as I had read some of the snarky reviews on Yelp and other websites, but kept an open mind as I ascended the stairs to this overhead park in the sky. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed my visit here. With the addition of the 2nd stage this place is huge and you can walk for many blocks taking in the sights and foliage. Now, they are planning to expand it further to a 3rd stage which will complete the project and offer more space to meander about. Continue reading The High Line – A Garden Oasis In The NYC Sky

New Yorkers get sweeter with Sweet Leaf Teas!

We New Yorkers sometimes get a bad rap about being rude and ornery. There are actually some really nice and chill people who live in this monolith of a city. Albeit, we are an aggressive lot at times. We move fast, talk fast, and hold nothing back when getting to the point in discussions! Some of us can be a bit edgy at times for sure. Now that Spring has arrived and the weather has taken a nicer turn it seems that attitudes have changed along with the season. I see a lot more smiles lately. To help usher in this feeling of happiness and good will along comes Sweet Leaf Iced Teas to help spread the word.

Hey New York – lighten up and just Be Sweet New York City! Continue reading New Yorkers get sweeter with Sweet Leaf Teas!

Ahoy Matey! Partying on NYC’s Frying Pan. Summer Fun!

Ahoy Matey! Shiver me timbers and swab the poop deck! Thar be a bar on the high seas called the Frying Pan!

Seriously, how can you live on the island of Manhattan and not take some time to enjoy cold drinks and a fun crowd during a nice day on the water? The Frying Pan is a terrific place to kill an afternoon and evening partying on the Hudson. The views are spectacular – the Hudson, boats, kayakers, skyline lit up at night, the setting sun, and even New Jersey looks good! The crowd is diverse and you can find all types on board – young, old, tourists, city folk, hot guys and gals – whatever floats your boat. Continue reading Ahoy Matey! Partying on NYC’s Frying Pan. I’m on a boat! Rocks Off Concert Cruise!

Cruising on the water along the east side of Manhattan island while rocking out to good music and seeing some terrific sights on a beautiful night is always a plus. Doing this for free is even better!

Not too long ago I received an email from Goldstar with a free offer for tickets to attend a Rocks Off Concert Cruise. I figured it would be cheesy good fun for me and my girl to enjoy a night out, especially when she is a Journey and Bon Jovi fan, and a cover band called “BonJourney” was performing on the boat. Yes, I am serious. This was just too funny!

The weather was absolutely perfect for this that night. The crowd was certainly mixed and was almost cartoonish. Younger rockers, older women in outfits they have no business to be wearing, middle aged people pounding down overpriced drinks, a group of older Asian ladies hanging out and eating food they snuck in, a group of loud drunk Russians dancing horribly, cougars on the prowl and mauling some of the younger guys the drunker they got, older married women acting like groupies as if this was the real band, etc. It was a sight to behold, and made you chuckle as if you were observing a really bad reality show competition. This was people watching perfection! Almost like a train-wreck people of Wal-Mart television show. Continue reading I’m on a boat! Rocks Off Concert Cruise!
