The Liebster Award!

liebster-award

Hey, guess what? I’ve been nominated for a new award. I have no clue why, other than the fact that someone out there must be obsessed with my incoherent scribble that I write about. Maybe I have a stalker or two. Should I be flattered or scared? Either way, I am flattered and it is an honor to be recognized and nominated for the Liebster Award. From what I gather this award is given to those newer and creative blogs out there, the “up and comers”, that have been discovered along the way by fellow bloggers. Crazy right?

Now here are the pesky rules one must adhere to when accepting the Liebster:

1. Thank the person who nominated you.

2. Post eleven random facts about yourself.

3. You answer the eleven questions asked by the person who nominated you.

4. You think of a new set of eleven questions and nominate eleven others to answer them.

Damn, this is a lot of work!

Eating grumpy! My NYC dining rants & ravings.

We who live here in New York love to go out to eat. It’s one of our pastimes that we all adhere to. Brunch has become a rite of passage. We mostly know that we can save a boat full of cash by cooking at home with more regularity, but then that means having to actually go out grocery shopping, preparing and cooking the actual meals, and then having to clean up the mess we make. It just seems easier to head out to one of the bazillion eateries and cafes that inhabit our fair city to enjoy a meal served to us. With the diverse amount of food stuffs offered here in our melting pot we have a cultural smorgasbord to choose from. No muss, no fuss.

Then again, along with the pleasantries of dining out there are the pitfalls that go along with it. Fellow obnoxious diners alongside you can easily ruin a nice meal. Restaurants can drive us batty with their rules and regulations. Clueless wait staff makes one want to scream. There are just so many to choose from! I give to you my fellow frustrated diners a list of rants & ravings based on my observations and experiences over my many years of dining out.

In a city where it seems you have to mortgage away your life savings just to live here sometimes you have to make some tough decisions when it comes to spending. Especially when it comes to nightlife, dining, and fun time! The majority of us are barely getting by as most of our paychecks are handed over for rent, bills, and the basic necessities of life. Hey, one must have enough toilet paper on hand at all times! We New Yorkers are a city of people that work hard and play hard. After a long work week we still find a way to go out money-2and party, even if that means digging into our cash pile meant for bills, or we dig in the couch cushions and coat pockets for enough change to have some drinks. Isn’t it a thrill when you come up on some dollar bills you had stuffed into a pocket and forgot about months ago? Heck, I need to find some way to keep my thirst for good booze quenched!

What’s up with that? More ranting & raving!

29924862Overall, I am a pretty patient and tolerant guy. I can put up with a lot, and often let things slide. It helps keep the stress levels low, and the blood pressure in a safe zone. There are times though that I am seconds away from becoming a flight risk! I like people. I really do. Yet at times they really test my patience. Sometimes I think the gene pool has not been too kind to some of these lunkheads. I run into these people in all walks of life – in the gym, at the store, at work, out on the street, you name it! They are everywhere, and I am sure many of us have experienced these “special people” first hand. Here’s a quick sampling I decided to embellish on as I ran into a few already today!

What is up with people who get to the register then take 15 minutes to dig through their pockets or purse to try and find a way of paying?
