Draught 55 in NYC lives up to it’s name!

Mmmm…….Beeeeer.

So much beer. As soon as I walked into Draught 55  in NYC I knew this joint lives up to its name. The beer list itself takes up two pages. I might have to revisit this place over and over to try them all!

I recently dropped in here with a friend to catch up on things. Epic beer list! $5 happy hour with a select list of brews, cocktails, wine until 8pm daily. I do wish they offered a more robust selection for the beers during HH, as only having a few available considering the monster beer list was kind of a big tease. With the amount of beer on tap I am sure they could add a few more for happy hour. Hey guys, make it happier! Continue reading Draught 55 in NYC lives up to it’s name!

The Curvy Widow is Dating Off-Broadway in NYC

I had a chance to attend a performance of Curvy Widow as part of a Yelp Night event recently.

Now, I know my rating might seem a bit lower than many who also viewed it, but I need to go with my gut feelings and be honest with my thoughts of this show. Maybe it was because perhaps the content matter was just something I could not totally relate to.

The show itself seemed skewed to an older demographic of a specific age category and gender. In my opinion, this is the type of show to take your 55 years and older mothers, aunts, grandparents, and female relatives. Seemed the majority of the crowd fit this profile on the night I was there. Nothing wrong with that at all, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Others might find it enjoyable and entertaining, especially if they can relate to the subject matter which has to do with being a widower dating after decades of marriage suddenly ending. A Warm Summer Run at NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K

Look at all these runners. Even more were in front of me!

New York Road Runners (NYRR) is a NYC based running organization that puts on many races throughout the year, and are the main organizers of the NYC Marathon. They produce running events of varying distances, and welcome runners of all types and experience. I ran the Brooklyn R-U-N 5K with this organization a few weeks ago.

They have a modern headquarters in midtown that made pre-race package pick up pretty easy. There is also a wall of history here where you can view NYC running events over the years, and they also offer running classes, tips, and expertise. You can join as a member and receive discounts on their races you sign up for. Continue reading A Warm Summer Run at NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K

Chewie, I’m Home! The Rocka Rolla Mother Ship in Brooklyn.

Rock and Roll, baby!

Hard rock. Heavy metal. Brews served in humongous chilled goblet glasses. Old school beer memorabilia, classic rock star photos, shuffleboard, and 70’s style wooden paneling on the walls. Classic cheesecake posters of Farrah Fawcett and Cheryl Tiegs in the game room. This is the world you discover at Rocka Rolla based in Brooklyn, NYC.

It’s like a demented version of a bar if the Wayne’s World dudes decided to open a bar in their basement with partners Beavis and Butthead! Continue reading Chewie, I’m Home! The Rocka Rolla Mother Ship in Brooklyn.
