I’m on Vacation! Pina Coladas, Island Hopping, Off The Grid!

I’m on vacation! Hand me a frozen cocktail and don’t be stingy with the rum!

Finally going on a real vacation out of the country for a week. Heading out on a Caribbean cruise with my gal and parents. Dad likes to drink and mom likes to gamble. We all love to eat. On a cruise ship that is a winning, if deadly, combination. Drinking, eating, gambling, island hopping and shopping. I think I might experience almost all of the Seven Deadly Sins over these seven days. We’ll make the most of it though I’m sure and have some great fun. I just need to keep in mind a list of things to adhere to that will help make my vacation time more enjoyable. Lord knows spending the week with the parental units will cause some stress to begin with.

1. I will not be on social networks of any kind as soon as that cruise ship pulls away from the port. It’s called a vacation for a reason! I am totally disconnecting for a week. Off the grid. Incommunicado. Lost in space. See ya!

2. I will not be posting vacation pictures on Facebook, Instagram, Yelp, Twitter, Snapchat, Tinder, LinkedIn, Clown Sex Weekly, or any other internet site. I will not be one of  “those” people who feel the need to post a million pictures of everywhere they go every minute of their vacations on social media. It’s almost as if people forgot how to actually kick back and enjoy the destinations and sights they experience. They just run around looking for photo ops to quickly post and show off to their friends and followers. Dozens of pictures. Hundreds of them. Thousands. Honestly, none of us really care. Just stop already. Go have fun, enjoy, and download the pics when you get back. We’ll see them later on. Continue reading I’m on Vacation! Pina Coladas, Island Hopping, Off The Grid!

New Year’s Resolutions, Frozen, Squirrels & Hangovers in NYC!

10409387_10152872711523486_9007701862672997175_nLook, I’ll be the first one to admit that it’s hard to pass up a night out on the town here in NYC. Put a booze filled cocktail in front of me along with a great steak dinner and Phil is a happy boy! I just can’t give up going out with my friends, or meeting up with them at some hot spot for a fun time. I know I have some of the “Peter Pan complex” in me. I just can’t grow up. Maybe it’s because I refuse to. I see too many people that once they hit their 30’s and 40’s they kind of give up on the things they loved along the years. Not saying that everyone needs to be hard partiers their whole life, but I kind of see the alternative as a bit boring too. I know major life events change people – relationships, marriage, children, etc – but do they have to give up on everything they did before that? The fun stuff?

I’m sitting here in my fav weekend cafe where you’ll normally find me with my computer, and on my third cup of coffee trying to shake the hangover cobwebs out of my head. Still thinking about the terrific happy hour last night in an underground lair where I drank way too much, then followed by a jaunt across town in the rain to a steakhouse to end the night with more cocktails and engaging conversation over a medium rare mouth watering filet mignon. Somehow stumbled home around 1:30 and fell into the bed. Did I drink too much last night? Maybe? Spent too much cash? That steak and sazerac cocktail was sure worth it. Do I regret not just going home, hitting the gym, then calling it a night? Hell no! Life is short and time to play is a must. Everyone deserves a cheat day now and then. Mine was last night. Back in the gym today and be good. Maybe at my age I should slow down a bit. Nah! Even though recovery takes a little longer nowadays I refuse to give in to age. You know that saying about “aging gracefully”? I call bullshit on that! There is a big difference of being older and being old. Being old conjures up images of retiring to Florida, watching the grass grow, and hitting up the seniors specials for dinner. Not me, no way. Heck, I know people around me that are already old and they are a lot younger than I am. I’ll fight it and party on until I’m dragged away kicking and screaming. Still love going out, attending heavy metal concerts, lifting weights, travelling, dancing, eating well, and enjoying everything NYC has to offer. Why stop because you get a little older?

Projectile blog vomiting all over NYC for two years now!

286365

Has it really been two years since I started posting my ridiculous thoughts, observations, gluttony, and depravity on this blog The Regular Guy NYC? Looking back over my scribble it just so happens that October is my two year anniversary of this madness that I have been vomiting out all over this blog. Where did the time go? In the words of the legendary anchorman Ron Burgundy – “Well, that escalated quickly”. I don’t know about you all but sometimes I can’t even believe the stuff that gets splattered all over this blog, and for some reason you all keep reading it. It’s like a pain and pleasure thing. It hurts so good, but you keep coming back for more. Like a car wreck that you can’t turn away from. I keep posting and you can’t seem to stop staring at my insides cooking like road pizza on the hot asphalt. What can I say? Many of you are just as demented, vile, raunchy, and sick as I am. I dig crazy, and really appreciate all of the support, comments, and feedback I have received and continue to receive here, even if it borders on stalking. By the way, does this rag smell like chloroform? Come, step into my unmarked white van of blogging! Continue reading Projectile blog vomiting all over NYC for two years now!

Tough Mudder / Wounded Warrior Project – putting my body on the line again for another great cause!

I have officially signed up to enter Tough Mudder on July 12th in Andover, NY. Yup, I’m putting my body on the line again for a terrific cause. I’m taking on Tough Mudder to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Serious running, gym sessions, training, and conditioning is starting this week. 10-12 miles and over 20-25 military style obstacles encompass this event so I better get in shape. Now, I know what people are thinking. It’s the holiday season coming up. There will be all types of evilly delicious bad foods and sugary delicacies all around and ready to ambush me at every turn. Dude, half your blog is food porn! Actually, for me it’s the perfect time as it will offer a good reason to not be lured into all the bad eating and drinking. I am sure I will be enticed along the way and succumb a bit. I am a sucker for seduction! Thanksgiving and vacations are coming up. Hey, I still have to enjoy life you know!

Please join in, and help me reach this goal.

As a relative of those who have served and are currently serving it is an honor to help with this amazing cause. We need to support our wounded servicemen and women who have given so much to protect and fight for our freedom. Tough Mudder is all about overcoming obstacles, together. Your support will help me reach this fundraising goal and help others overcome their own obstacles.

I salute all those who have served and overcome so much, but know that many still have a long ways to go. The Wounded Warrior Project is a wonderful cause and does so much to help these people who have sacrificed so much for our country.
