Hey, where have you been?

Damn, it’s been a while since I have cracked open the computer to scribble down my thoughts and meanderings of life. Seems as good a time as any considering the elements outside have projectile vomited everything in Mother Nature’s stomach at us!

Let’s get real. It’s a weather disaster of a night here in the Northeast. Snow and icy wet conditions have made the evening commute a living Hell for many.  3 + hours trapped in cars crawling along at what is normally a 45 minute trek. Subways and mass transit facing sporadic massive delays. Accidents everywhere. Trees down. It’s really not a great night to go outside and do anything. I bet even Mayor Dumblasio is whining about not being able to go to his gym all the way in Brooklyn tomorrow because he actually has to run the city during a snowstorm. Hey, great job Mr Mayor at doing the crappiest job possible and being totally unprepared for this storm. Of course, he blames the weather forecast. Thumbs up! Dominique Ansel is my NYC pastry dominatrix!

Considering I just worked out at the gym a block away, and then walked into this place to buy some delicious pastries I can pretty much say that workout was a waste. But these treats were so damn good! Waistline be damned!

The pastry dominatrix had me in her clutches. The gluttonous Adonis in me approves!

Dominique Ansel Kitchen in NYC has become famous for its mouth watering pastries, and with worthy acclaim. As for the actual facility it’s kind of small, with one community table to sit at, and a funky stair case pyramid with stadium-like seating that rise to the ceiling. Kind of a cool spot to drop in on and enjoy a tasty pastry, cup of cappuccino, or some nice hot soup and a croissant on a cold wintry NYC day. Le Viet Cafe – a tiny NYC spot for tasty Viet/Thai street eats.

Kimchi Fries. Do I need to say more? Look at that!

NYC seems to have an endless array of eateries of all styles and origins that take up residence here year in and year out. You can literally eat all around the world here in the five boroughs. Here is another new spot for good grub that has popped up within walking distance from my crib on the UES/Yorkville part of town. Hot damn! This makes my mouth and belly very happy!

Le Viet Cafe is a tiny resto that serves up some cheap and tasty Viet and Thai style street food. Even though it’s been open for a few months now where the old Buddha BBeeQ used to be we had not checked them out until a few weekends ago. Narrow and efficient looking the space can hold 12-15 people at most with a few tables along the one wall. Decor is minimalist but the service is very friendly. Menu is so very affordable and the portions are just about right for the price. Lunch specials during the week are also offered. I definitely need to go back now and try out some of the soups, sandwiches, fried rice dishes, and assorted appetizers. Yeah, you can say I enjoyed my first meal at Le Viet. Experience the manliness that is Umami Burger NYC

ooo

I just devoured the juicy awesomeness that is the Manly Burger. I am all that is Man. And then some!

It’s kind of surreal that just a few weeks ago I dined at Umami Burger here in NYC and enjoyed every bite of this fatty, meaty, cheesy, caloriffic-laden burgery goodness. I have been sitting on this review since then and over that time I had an epiphany of sorts. I actually have decided to stop eating meat. What??? Yeah, I know, right? Seafood and healthier nutrient dense options are on the agenda now. I don’t know if I would really class myself as a Pescatarian just yet as I still love a good steak. Yet, lately I just started to get sick of eating fatty greasy meat products and yearned for a change. Especially since I am now ramping up my workouts to get in shape for summer. Let’s just see how this grand experiment all works out for me over the next three or four months.

In the meantime, let us chat about this manliness that I wrapped my lips around, shall we? Continue reading Experience the manliness that is Umami Burger NYC
