It’s about time that the far Upper East Side where East Harlem meets starts getting spots like this that you would normally find only downtown. Earl’s Beer & Cheese is located in a pretty vacant stretch along Park Ave and 97th where the train overpass meets the tunnel underground. Not much of a view but who cares when all you need to look at are your terrific beers and wonderful cheese plates.
As others have mentioned the place is insanely tiny. Personally, that does not bother me as long as I can grab a seat or spot to enjoy my brew. For others I can see where they would become claustrophobic quickly. When we arrived here around 6PM on Saturday there were only around eight people there, but by 7PM I had counted around 25 and it was jammed packed. This place has become popular very quickly in this neck of the woods, and for good reason.
Chalk up another one for The Gluttony Files! You have to figure that with the amount of bars and fun drinking holes all over NYC that I would end up polluted at a good amount of them. This one involved a whole lotta rum!
Did I really ride a purple unicorn over rainbows while dropping acid last night?
Cienfuegos had me tripping the light fantastic. I still don’t know what happened but I hope I can show my face in public today without getting arrested.
A decor that looks a fairly land scene from True Blood. Everything is pastel colored, sparkling lights, large over sized chairs, and candle lit. It is almost like entering a speakeasy with it’s narrow stairway to the second floor and being greeted by a statue of the Blessed Mother. Huh? Ok – bless the hangover I will end up with after this!
One of the greatest things about living in NYC is the outrageous abundance of mouth watering places to eat across all five boroughs. One of the hottest right now for the foodie scene has to be the borough of my birth – Brooklyn USA! Easy to get to from Manhattan by subway. So many things to see and do. So many places to drink and eat!
How do I even begin to describe probably some of the greatest mac & cheese I have ever eaten? I mean, this stuff was devastating and blew my mind. I dream about it. I have cold sweats like an addict that can’t get his fix as it’s been too long now since my last hit of gooey goodness. Just inject that fatty cheesiness right into my veins!
If there is one thing that DuMont does exceptionally well, it definitely is their mac & cheese. Thick soft pasta shells covered by layers of mouth watering different cheeses, pieces of thick bacon mixed in, and a crust that is crisp and browned on the outside with real breadcrumbs. Wow – that crust is the stuff of mac & cheese legend, and it’s the kind of thing that wars are fought over. I still stare at the picture I took of it. They give you so much on the plate it begs you to share, but I was having none of that! Yes, I am disturbed, I know, but I just can’t help myself. DuMont has ruined me for mac & cheese at any other place I go the rest of my life. The after effects were a food coma like non other. Continue reading Mac & Cheesy Mac & Cheese in Brooklyn!→
Well, it’s April 1st and time to start really taking a cold hard look at my eating habits. Time to reevaluate what I am putting in my body and my fitness goals. With summer just around the corner I want to rock the six-pack, and not hide the bod from view. I know what to do, how to eat, how to train. I used to be a personal trainer dammit! Yet, it is so hard as temptation is everywhere in NYC!
How on God’s green Earth am I ever supposed to eat normal living in this city of excess? Really, I mean, WTF!!!! WHAT – THE – EFFFFF!!!!!
