We who live here in New York love to go out to eat. It’s one of our pastimes that we all adhere to. Brunch has become a rite of passage. We mostly know that we can save a boat full of cash by cooking at home with more regularity, but then that means having to actually go out grocery shopping, preparing and cooking the actual meals, and then having to clean up the mess we make. It just seems easier to head out to one of the bazillion eateries and cafes that inhabit our fair city to enjoy a meal served to us. With the diverse amount of food stuffs offered here in our melting pot we have a cultural smorgasbord to choose from. No muss, no fuss.
Then again, along with the pleasantries of dining out there are the pitfalls that go along with it. Fellow obnoxious diners alongside you can easily ruin a nice meal. Restaurants can drive us batty with their rules and regulations. Clueless wait staff makes one want to scream. There are just so many to choose from! I give to you my fellow frustrated diners a list of rants & ravings based on my observations and experiences over my many years of dining out.

One of the great things about living in NYC are all the different neighborhoods one can explore. On any day all it takes is a quick subway ride to hit up any part of the city. Brooklyn (fuggetaboutit!), da Bronx, Queens, every part of Manhattan up down and all around, and even Jersey is easy to get to by the PATH train from NYC. I have explored many parts of the city area riding the rails. Today was no different as we headed up to one of my favorite hoods – Harlem USA – to hang out, shop, and grab a bite to eat. Here we go! I decided to not wait until after New Year’s to get back in the gym. After taking a much needed break these past few weeks to let my body recuperate a bit and heal up some nagging injuries I felt it was time to get back in gear. Oh yes, I also took off on my diet too and indulged in plenty of bad eating and drinking. Hey, it’s holiday season and I am not one to deprive myself of all the good food and booze being put in front of me! Ho-Ho-Ho!

Well, we seem to have made it through another Christmas. My body already feels as it has gone through an “extreme makeover” with all the stomach engorging food and hi-caloric drinking I have partaken in. Sure, I did it on my own accord with reckless abandon, and enjoyed every bite and gulp. Now, we have a week between major holidays, and New Years Eve will bring another evening of engorging. My pants are already getting tighter, and I dread what will happen after the holidays. I don’t make impossible to keep resolutions, but I am going to behave myself this week!
