I really think the “GODS of FATTYLAND” are conspiring against me by constantly inventing new ways to keep me ingesting calories of delicious goodness closer and closer to where I live on the Upper East Side.

Now along comes Le Churro. C’mon, you know I can’t resist hot, crispy, sweet, sugary, crunchy churros! With dipping sauces too? This is just not fair! NOT FAIR!

This place is tiny and has that “uptown mommy” coffee klatch vibe to it. Bright, colorful, and cheery. Only a few small tables and chairs with some counter seating by the front window. Assortment of chocolates and candies to purchase on shelves along the wall. The menu offers coffee, iced drinks, juices, oatmeal, hot cider, yogurt parfaits, and smoothies too. Also has a bunch of tempting goodies on the register counter.

Just an amazing British gastropub on the Upper East Side that breaks all barriers in the land of annoying frat boy sports bars. There are only a few times in life when one walks into a new place and experiences sheer awesomeness. When that happens you just feel all

The bar area is narrow, dimly lit, and sexy. Only two small flat screens above the bar. Cool techno / dance type music playing in the background, but not too loud. Dark wood decor with a hint manliness and testosterone but inviting to both men and women. Comfy couch area near back of bar to lounge upon. Large back room dining area separated from the bar by a cool sun room dining area with a long communal table in it – great for a group gathering. The decor is outstanding back there and you feel as if you are dining in someone’s home in the UK. Comfortable and inviting and you would never know from looking at it from the outside. 10 Diabetes Myths & The True Facts – Guest Post

NEWLOGO

I was recently approached by a rep for JDRF who asked me if I would be open to placing a guest post on my blog regarding diabetes myths and facts. Normally I do not delve into too many health related topics of a serious vein here but I felt this is good information to spread as I have friends and family afflicted with diabetes and deal with it on a daily basis.

10 Diabetes Myths and The True Facts

Diabetes is growing more prevalent by the year. Although the media often makes connections between the rise of the condition and a perceived modern day obesity crisis, this has lead to the development of a number of harmful and inaccurate myths about the cause and treatment of the disease. A difficult health condition to manage involving monitoring your blood sugar, maintaining a healthy diet and taking medication inconsistent diabetes advice is at best stigmatising and at worst dangerous. In the article below, we will look at some of the most common misconceptions about diabetes and try to set the record straight by looking at the facts and figures related to the disease.

1. Losing weight will cure diabetes

Although weight gain can be a symptom of diabetes it is not in itself the cause. Doctors may recommend a treatment plan that involves losing a little weight to slow down the effects of the disease and make monitoring blood glucose and absorbing medications easier but it is extremely unlikely that losing a few pounds – even through dramatic weight loss – will ‘cure’ your diabetes. In fact, nearly 20% of people with type 2 diabetes are of a normal weight. Continue reading 10 Diabetes Myths & The True Facts – Guest Post

Rum, Unicorns, and Cienfuegos NYC.

l (3)

Chalk up another one for The Gluttony Files! You have to figure that with the amount of bars and fun drinking holes all over NYC that I would end up polluted at a good amount of them. This one involved a whole lotta rum!

Cienfuegos

Did I really ride a purple unicorn over rainbows while dropping acid last night?

Cienfuegos had me tripping the light fantastic. I still don’t know what happened but I hope I can show my face in public today without getting arrested.

A decor that looks a fairly land scene from True Blood. Everything is pastel colored, sparkling lights, large over sized chairs, and candle lit. It is almost like entering a speakeasy with it’s narrow stairway to the second floor and being greeted by a statue of the Blessed Mother. Huh? Ok – bless the hangover I will end up with after this!
