A spot of tea with Lipton K-Cups Review and Giveaway!

171168718353_1I love my coffee. I am a caffeine whore and not ashamed to admit it. Yet, I am not one of those coffee snobs that refuse to enjoy a spot of tea now and then. I am an equal opportunity caffeine jolt addict. I do like many types of teas, and there is nothing better than experiencing a high tea with your choice of scones, sandwiches, desserts, and assorted tea flavors. Mmmm……stick a pot of tea in front of me with some biscuits and clotted cream. Orgasmic bliss. A caffeinated food coma bliss, but happy nonetheless. That is why I wear sweatpants when hitting up a tea house. Don’t judge! Guys like me need room to breathe.

Also, at my office where I work we have a K-Cup machine with all kinds of coffees and teas to choose from. It’s so easy to use and offers no messy cleanup. I always wondered what it would be like to have one at home. Well, my thoughts and prayers did not go unanswered. The angel of caffeination sprinkled some tea leaves on me as I was recently asked to try out a new line of K-Cups by Lipton. Heck, we all know Lipton as they have been around forever, and I am sure we have had a cup of their tea at one time in our lives. On a cold winter day I like a hot cup of tea, or when sick it seems to help better than coffee. Lipton has been used in my family since I can remember, and I still use their products today.

I jumped at the chance to check out their new tea line that is meant for Keurig K-Cup machines. As the cold weather season is upon us the timing was perfect! I was sent three varieties of teas to taste and reflect upon.

Lipton INDULGE –  I am a big fan of Earl Grey style tea and I very much enjoyed indulging in this one. If you are a black tea fan it a solid deal. Simple and delish. A touch of vanilla tops it off. My fav out of the three.

Lipton REFRESH – I don’t drink a lot of sweet tea but gave this one a fair shot. I thought it was pretty good. If you are one into a sweeter tasting tea then you will enjoy this.

Lipton SOOTHE – It’s one of those green teas that is best when trying to relax after a long day at work, or while watching tv at night and unwinding. I drink a bit of green tea now and then and this was really good. It helps soothe the throat too and I can see even drinking this over ice as an option.

Overall, I think Lipton has done a great job here and it will be interesting to see what other flavors they come up with. I’m always up to trying out new things. Especially when it comes to teas and coffees.

Now, when I was contacted to review these three teas I was not expecting to receive what came my way. A huge box arrived at my office and I did not know what to think. As I opened it up I was amazed to see a brand new Keurig K75 Platinum brewing machine! Holy K-Cup Batman! Along with three boxes of the teas I mentioned above there was also another box of mixed coffees that was included. This had to be at least a $200 retail value. A few blogger friends of mine who also were contacted for this promotion were just as impressed as I was. I brought it home, set it up, and started making tea within minutes. It was so easy to use and the selection of K-Cups that came with it were terrific.

  1. Great promotion.

We would drink a lot more tea in my house with one of these handy machines. My wife loves green tea, but we rarely have time to make it (we don’t own a microwave).

Thanks for the chance at this awesome deal.

  2. Wow, I can’t remember the last time I tasted Liptons tea, it’s been a long time mate
as I’ve been waking up to the strong coffee. It was good of them to send you a
nice tea machine which would look great in my kitchen! Just share the love mate.
Maybe it’s time for me to check out the old tea bags and get the taste buds going
    again.

If you like that kind of thing.

  4. Phil – what a great surprise! I am a coffee hound like you – but tea is good for a change – I like a soothing green tea and I always drink iced tea when I am in the south. Green tea is for me!

  5. I would love to try the black tea.
I too am a caffeine junkie. Lipton is actually my choice of tea brands because it reminds me of simpler times when a cup made by my dad was the answer to all of life’s problems.

  6. What an awesome thing to win! I love my Keurig. Although I like teas, I’m more a coffee girl, but my hubby is totally all about tea (as is my sister). So far I have been so-so with the k-cup teas except for the ones done by Snapple (their peach iced tea is soooo good). This actually sounds like something we might enjoy! I’ll totally give this a shot.

  7. Hi Phil I love you saying “I am an equal opportunity caffeine jolt addict.” Being a Brit I love a cuppa (cup of tea) too. Very refreshing and a good alternative to coffee.

It looks like you’ve got a great little machine there. I guess it saves a lot of time compared to boiling the kettle like we do.

Even though I’m in PA for the next few days I’ll be returning home soon. As a result I don’t think I’m eligible to enter. I do wish you every success with the competition though and hope the winner likes the tea as much as you do.

Great review and well done Lipton.

  8. Lipton SOOTHE is very tempting.

I love sweet teas, but green tea will always be a favorite of mine.

Been eyeing these K-cup things for a while. I always make a cup when I visit a friend who is lucky enough to have one of these machines.

  9. The refresh sounds like something I would be all over! I’m a big tea drinker since tea in my life to keep me sane!

  10. LOL! “Guys like me need room to breathe.” This is why girls wear yoga pants. Or at least I do. Ha!

Once it starts getting colder out, I seem to trade coffee for tea. There’s something really nice about it in the evening. That soothe tea sounds wonderful. I’m a big fan of green teas.

  11. Count me entered: Lipton Soothe!

My Jewish grandmother swore that in addition to chicken soup, hot tea with honey and lemon was the cure for all that ails you. So even as a little girl I was given cup after cup of Lipton with a little bit of honey and a lot of lip-puckering lemon. I turned my nose up but she wasn’t having it. Turns out she was right (why am I not surprised?); a recent study found certain healing properties in that combination, and honey is actually good for a sore throat. I think people were wiser when we knew less…

  12. I love tea and is my preferred drink although I must admit I have been drinking way more coffee recently. Must admit I have never seen a tea machine before – may have to put this on my Christmas list!

  13. Okay, besides the fact that you have hosted a post on tea, you just made this the coolest blog so far tonight. & we’ve been to more than a dozen!! 😛 We absolutely luv the fact that a big, strong, man can say he loves tea. And why? Cuz there’s stereotypical drinks that go hand-n-hand with men & have since the dawn of time. Tea isn’t one of them.
Beer, (Ale) Whiskey (Whuskey) Shot of Tequila (bit of the worm or To-kill-ya)…..any of these would do! But tea? Now having said that, guess what? Every man in OUR life just so happens to love tea. My Uncle: 6’4″ Marine stationed at the white house as a Color Guard….. “Tea-Drinker” with a borderline obsessive passion for Southern Iced Tea with mint leaves & raspberry.
My other Uncle (Green Beret) Also a “Tea-Drinker” only he likes & drinks his with his wife: Chamomile at bedtime. My Poppa “Tea-Drinker” who believed in the healing qualities of Green Tea & my father: Tea-Drinker” who loves the Vanilla infused hot tea.
So, you our dear friend Phil, have just made it onto our list of Phenomenal-F*****G-Men who drink tea! Could there be a blog for this? Hmmm…I’m liking the sound of it!!

As usual each post we get to know a little more about the amazing Phil. And we likey!! And did we hear a bit of English in the top part of your post?? My Nana was from Australia & she was the only one in my family that used the phrase: Tea & Biscuits. Keep the food & beverage comin’ cuz as Irish we love our traditional tastes & as Southern Belles we are food-addicts!! 🙂 Sharing your post now, our friend.

  14. (oops something went wrong with my previous comment)

I love Earl Gray tea and Green Tea with a little lemon so I’d love to try the refresh Iced Tea 🙂

  15. I would love to try the iced tea, we drink a lot of tea in this house so that and the iced coffee

  16. I really want to try the sooth, it’d be awesome during a cold or flu or even just on a cold day!

  17. I’d love to try the lipton soothe – I’ve tried a lot of k cups (coffee and tea) but haven’t yet tried that one!

  18. I really really love tea and coffee. Like, I collect it. One time I even had sivet coffee, its the indonesian kind that’s digested by cats…
Anyway, the lipton green tea sounds marvelous because green tea is my all time favorite. I’d love to win this for my dad really though, it’d be great to be able to get him something nice like this for christmas, especially since he’s been wanting one forever.

  19. Hi

I would love to try the black tea!! It intrigues me but I just haven’t tried it yet. My current keurig is also on the fritz so a new one would be a blessing!!
